Preparing for my visit to kzoo over the holidays (aka looking forward to some good beers).

I know Bell's doesn't sell growlers (or do growler fills), and the Olde Peninsula just... meh... Anywhere else in town these days where I can grab a cool growler (and get it filled)?

Sometimes you can find a good beer at Olde Peninsula. Don't rule them out. Arcadia is only 18 miles east from Kzoo, and Dark Horse 12 miles further. Consider them. If you're driving to Kzoo then there are places along the way that fill growlers with some excellent Michigan Beers. (Greenbush and The Livery quickly come to mind. Both are along I-94 in the SW corner of Michigan.)

No where in Kzoo, but we have access to awesome stuff within an hour.

Bravo restaurant sells growlers. I have not had any of their beers, so I can't tell you if they worth buying.

Gonna give this thread a bump and ask again, now that it seems there's a few more places opening up in town and some changes to the growler law. Plus I'm visiting again!

Unfortunately none of the bars in town are filling growlers as of today. A couple have said that they won't do it, and one is looking into it. There is a new brewery in Portage called Latitude 42, and they were filling growlers. Other than that, nothing has changed since fall.

Boatyard Brewing will fill a growler.

They will? Just stop in and if they're there they'll fill? I had a lot of their beers once over a year ago and was impressed but haven't had any since.

Erbelli's on Stadium does growlers (or at least used to), but usually the only thing they really have is Boffo Brown.

As far as I know. I don't think they have their own growlers yet.

Good to know. Whenever I've asked them on facebook about when they're opening or how to get their beer, I've been met with silence.

Thanks. Bummer to see that not a lot has change. As I'm a native and still have relatives in town I visit 1-2x a year. Might have to see what Arcadia or Dark Horse is offering!

Take a trip west from Kzoo and hit Paw Paw, Livery, and Greenbush. Also Tapistry is another new one on the lakeshore in that direction in Bridgman. I haven't tried any of their beer yet, so they an unknown.

I am with The 8th Street Grille in Holland, MI. We are the ones that did the work to have the law changed. I worked with Founder's Brewing, Mark Sellers of Hop Cat & Grand Rapids Brewing with some other Class C license holders in Grand Rapids and Senator Hildenbrand to get this done. We did not get much help from any of the places you would expect but we worked hard behind the scenes to get this done. Senator Hildenbrand took this on when others did not want to. He should get most the credit, he is the one that wrote the bill and lobbied to have it passed. He told us he could get it done and he did. We have 28 taps of craft beer and we fill growlers 7 days a week. Tuesday all fills are $5 off, Thursday $3 off. We have a great selection, the best in Holland. Check out our facebook page for our current up to date selections. We do takeovers regularly and have Shorts coming in Oct, Founders in November. If you are traveling to Holland to visit New Holland or on your way to Grand Rapids we are only one block from New Holland and fill growlers 7 days a week. Cheers.

Found out there's one waiting for me, on loan during my visit. Looking forward to using it often.

Shakespeare's now fills growlers. It's the best way to avoid the terrible service.

Ah, Shakespeare's, where I'm always asked for at least two forms of ID when I enter. Not going to say my age, but I was legally able to drink during the previous century.

(P.S. I can tell I'm procrastinating/ looking forward to my trip by the frequency I'm posting here!)
