My brother-in-law is in Kalamazoo today and I need to get him a list to pick up and bring back to Chicago for me...anything special available at Bell's? Any Shorts I have to try? Others? Please also include bottle shop names if other than Bell's... Thanks!
Mega-Bev out on W Main St (just about a mile west of the US-131 exit on the south side of the road) and Drake Party Center at the SE corner of Michigan Ave and Drake Road (just west of the WMU area) are probably the two best stores. Anything from Short's is going to be good, and they have a new seasonal released this week (in short supply) called Evil Urges (a Belgian Strong Dark Ale w Candi Sugar). There are also two different variety packs that he might find, one with 4 of their regular menu beers, and one with three newly-bottled beers plus Mystery Stout. I think Chicago gets just about anything else that could be found in Michigan that would be on store shelves now (Dark Horse, Founders, Arcadia, Brewery Vivant, Greenbush, etc.), but maybe Odd Side Ales stuff might not be? Their Citra Pale Ale is very good, and I've also liked everything else from them, but not as well as I liked the Citra. You'll have to call Bell's to see if any special releases are in the General Store. None have been reported recently, and any special releases just kind of show up unannounced.
