agreed, i only have had BA SB but I liked reg better. I am assuming its because they brew they beer and transfer it to the barrel without the adjuncts and maybe they die down a bit over the aging time? to me it seemed like none of the adjuncts were as pronounced as the normal version

lol, hello. What's particularly confounding about it? I fully realize that sets are not "guaranteed," but it's the type of release that isn't so difficult to come by that I won't have a difficult time finding it from friends or others locally if by some small chance I miss out on eventbrite.

I mean, being totally honest, I wouldn't say its a "small chance" you'll miss out. Its far from a guarantee. It could be slightly less demand coupled with larger bottling run for this year, but it still will likley go quick. Prob not immediate but theres still a chance someone can miss it who is trying right at 12. Kind of shortsighted IMO to post a beer FT that you can't with certainty you will say you have. Also, yeah anyone who makes a trade for it should be aware it will fall through possibly with a chance, but I feel like we shouldn't be allowed to post in the forum until beer is in hand, or at least paid for

 

I hear your concern, but once again I think it's overstated. The small chance of not getting the beer on eventbrite *combined* with the even smaller chance of not being able to procure it otherwise *combined* with the chance that a trade even closes before then in the first place equals some pretty infinitesimal probability that matters go awry somehow.

And nobody is being swindled; I'm completely up front about the fact that the beer is not in hand via PMs, and it wouldn't make sense to ship before anything is guaranteed. So... again, I get the premise of your concern but it sounds a little overstated in context. Thanks for your thoughts though.

 

I'm not saying you are trying to work anyone at all, totally not what I meant. In general terms I just feel like trades, on any type of forum/platform, shouldnt be posted until the beer is at least accounted for. Guess its just a pet peeve that annoys me.

I think so! It takes some guesswork obviously... but for a release like Mexican Brunch in 2019, what percentage of people do we think get shut out when trying instantly? 5-20 percent, if any?

Then, that percentage becomes much smaller when factoring in the amount of people who don't try again after the 7-8min window, which adds a number of more allotments.

Of course after estimating this it'll turn out that I'm one of the ones shut out lol.

If the above were the only factors I was considering then I wouldn't offer if FT, but knowing Kane customers and how these releases usually go there will be a healthy contingent of people (not to mention some friends that I'm pretty sure will get some too) wanting to unload their bottles locally and immediately.

 

Sorry @William_Navidson I did not mean to start this I swear, I was genuinely just curious. Only reason I posted here was so it didn't possibly affect your trade. Let's all just move on and hope that it is easy and there is a small chance of missing. I'm still debating sitting this one out just to save some cash and an hour drive. Cheers.

 

No worries haha, I could put an end to it too by simply not responding but I figured I would share my rationale. I'm sure whatever convo occurs will be covered up by the flood of posts about getting / not getting / mythical BOTS / reactions to the reactions of getting shut out etc. in 24 hours anyway.

I’m curious here so I’m going to keep the conversation going for at least one more post. What are you going to trade for with the Mexican Brunch? I’m just wondering your plan if you get shut out - are you buying a bottle (more?) or trading with a local for one (more?) bottles? If you only get one are you turning around and trading it away? I’m not saying you can’t or shouldn’t do that by the way, just curious how many bottles (if any) you plan on keeping to drink.

1. I'm ISO a number of different beers I'd like to try. Recently heard good things about Transient's Kentuckley set, so they're at the top of my list. There are a bunch of other stalwarts I'm typically looking for from my favorite breweries that are difficult to come by as well (Hill Farmstead, deGarde, etc).
2. Option 2 if I do get shut out is to check around with people that I know who are buying more than they want to keep. There tends to be plenty of Kane regulars who do this.
3. It depends on the context, I guess. Again, I think there's a very, very small chance that everything works out in such a way that I both have a trade to complete and get shut out and have a difficult time coming by bottles... but of course I'd honor a trade if I have one set up.
4. Keeping to drink: probably one. I like MB, but it's more of a "I want to see how it tastes this year" type of beer more than one I stockpile to enjoy over time (a la Object Permanence or ANTEAD).

... not completely sure where the questions are coming from because I don't think the above is too out of the orindary by any means lol, but happy to answer questions I guess.

 

You have to remember that we’re not all engaging in the same activities re: scrambling to get extra and/or trading. I’ve only traded on this site twice in 9 years (not counting sending stuff back and forth with sammyjaxxx) and although I have some friends into craft beer I would have almost no chance of getting a bottle much less more by asking people I know in NJ. Occasionally my friends or I buy extra beer for each other but overwhelming I buy one bottle or four pack for myself. Just curious like I guess some others are.

Edit: yeah I just checked your post - 2-3 bottles to trade and if you do get shut out you are confident you can get 4 bottles easily elsewhere?

 

1. Gotcha, I guess I forget that there isn't as much overlap between the trading population on this site and the general forum.

2. I haven't been in discussion regarding an actual trade yet so this is just hypothetical, but... suuuure? If by some small chance someone said to me "I need you to absolutely agree to trade me 3 bottles of MB for these 3 bottles, and I need you to lock it in before 12pm tomorrow even though you told me that you don't have the bottles definitely yet" then there might be an issue, but we live in the real world where people are typically flexible and understanding when you're up front with them and communicate candidly, and I wouldn't plan on ensuring that I can get someone all 3 bottles ahead of time like that if I'm not sure I can.

 

alright MB blah blah blah, has anyone realized Party Wave has been listed as available for Kegs for a week now? Is this a sign of it becoming a permanent beer or an error on the site?
I know Glenn said its a fav of every one there as well. This could fast track my kegerator purchase! @glennl ??

 

I haven't had mexican brunch in a while, last year I forgot about the on sale till that afternoon. Now how do I strategically interrupt my chemistry class to pause and try for bottles. "Hold on kids I have to send an email at exactly 12 o'clock"

Also I hope @fdonnelly i could come when regular was canned. Don’t care for the DDH one. Hoping if I can MB I can at least get a growler of regular party wave this weekend or next.
