Yesterday I used the App. Last sale the browser worked for me

What I have done for the last few releases is put in a quantity of 2 first. Once I get that it is not available I change quantity to 1. After that I think it is just luck. I have been lucky enough to get a set in each of the past few on line sales.

I wasn't given the option to change quantities when the red box popped up, as far as I know. It seemed like I had to go back and try again. The whole process was very strange. In the past I’ve usually forgotten until too late or decided not to try. I think this is the second time I’ve tried on Eventbrite.

I do want to stress that I’m not crying over my (non-Mexican Brunch) beer, but the system seems flawed when a person (as I did) literally hit at 12:00, the order tickets button popped up, you hit it, and a box pops up saying you can’t. Then you have to keep trying over and over. Once that order button pops up you should have a set as long you order in the time limit. That being said, I guess it still beats long lines.

[knock on wood] I’ve had pretty good luck so far with eventbrite for Kane, but eventbrite is pretty terrible. I don’t understand why they can’t make allotments lock in your cart once you hit buy until they time out or at least make it clear how their ticketing system actually works besides “unavailable isn’t sold out, keep trying.”

Also had similar issues with Wilco’s solid sound presale which was on eventbrite. So, I have no problem with Kane using an online ticketing system, I just think eventbrite is pretty mediocre at best and infuriating at worst.

Look here is the issue. If they had 500 sets, and 1000 people hit the site from 12:00:01 to 12:00:05, that is 200 people ever second. Eventbrite probably has decent computers and would probably be able to process fast enough such that it allows the first 500 to put orders in their carts in 2.5 seconds, and the next 500 see unavailable--so no "false starts" where you get it in the cart and can't complete the process. But when the numbers increase by 10 or 100 fold or whatever it takes to get to the limit of the site's processing capabilities, there is nothing they can do. These "false starts" are basically the equivalent of never being able to get it in your cart in the first place. It is an online lottery, some will win, some will lose. There is nothing wrong with the system. It operates as intended, and in my opinion it beats all other options.

People like the system when they get the beer. People dislike the system when they don't get the beer. This never changes. Time is a flat circle.

It's a lottery. Demand is higher than supply. No possible system is going to allow everyone to get what they want in a system that allows all buyers to buy at the same time. This remains true even if you're using the app, or if you have the best internet connection, etc.

That is an interesting point. Someone made it above too I think. But I think doing it this way seems to result in more people on BA and I guess other NJ “regulars” in getting “picked” for lack of a better word. The past lotteries probably had more people trying because it wasn’t a mad scramble for 20 straight minutes at one specific time. So I guess this way works “better” than a normal lottery.

What do you mean that EventBrite results in more locals or regulars getting "picked?" Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but I have no clue how that would be the case?...

It does for me. I cannot drop everything and run down there on a Saturday and I am not standing in a line for an hour +. I will get their beers if I get lucky on Eventbrite or if they hang around for a bit. This is why I don't get most of their cans.
Its ok. I have plenty of beer to drink.

For better or worse . . . Kane beers are ready when they are ready. Hard to wait but always worth it.

Haha no idea if I was right or not! Was just thinking that a lottery that allows people to sign up at their leisure would attract more people overall including those from farther away and that the timed sale right at noon maybe involved less people overall (only those available right at noon) and people sure they could make it to pick up. Didn’t mean local local just in the NY/NJ/PA area. Again, was just musing (out of my ass).

So I guess I’m also asking that if you say the online sale is a lottery in essence (which I agree with your point), why not just leave it an actual lottery like Kane was doing? That way people don’t have to scramble right at 12:00 exactly and can just put their names in before the deadline?
Just asking because I find this discussion interesting, not to complain.

Yep. While being a bit of a tease,
Other factor there is people will have large groups of family/friends put in for them with that system. I think this system limits that

Right I guess that was what I was thinking.
Seems somewhat fairer if it gives people around here a chance to get a set on their own since the mad scramble method eliminates the large groups all trying for someone. For the most part.

This was the first time I tried one of the eventbrite releases and luckily it worked out. While pretty experienced with most stuff Kane I am def a noob to the eventbrite releases so does any1 know the routine for the pickups? I see they open at 10am for the next two Saturdays, will they do pours and everything or are they only open from 10-12 for pickups and then they actually fully open for pours and everything else at their regular 12 opening time?

Should be interesting to see the weather hold sin store this weekend. Hoping they post some stuff early about what they have on tap etc. to help us decide if we should trek out this weekend or just wait until next.
