Kane Brewing (2020)

Lactose and fruit...no chance.

 

I didn’t know mosaic punch was ‘tosified, I always thought it was just a fruited IPA. Thanks for sparing me the trip

 

Made the trip down. Light line, moved quick. Was tenth in line and it took all of 5 minutes if that.

 

does anyone happen to know if Wegmans is still making people line up to get in? only going to kane if i can also get in Wegmans easily.

 

Wegmans liquor store doors are now open as of this past Monday I think. We went Wednesday. Line for market, but not liquor store.

FWIW any Kane IPA I have had that has lactose added in, is not overwhelming like some other places in the area.

 

I had a few of their offerings for the first time this weekend. Blue Hotel was meh to me. Just had a dry, earthy flavor that I just didn’t enjoy. Mosaic Punch was enjoyable even though I’m not a big fan of the lactose added brews. SBX, which I expected to be rough with the high ABV, was absolutely stellar. Even at 8.4, it was crisp, refreshing, and easy drinking.

 

SBX has been one of my fav kane doubles since it was Imperial Sneakbox. Blue Hotel has been very hit or miss, I found the smaller Blue Motel to be better IMO. Mosaic Punch is tasting great, as I mentioned previously, I think Kane uses lactose well, in that they don't over do it. It still tastes like beer, a little sweet and lots of the fruit. Try to get some Party Wave next time you can, the recent batch was stellar and its one of their best IPAs

Hit or miss is a good way to describe the Blue Hotel taste to me. We actually did get Party Wave, but damn if I can remember if I tried it the other day. If I did, it was later and I was paying attention to detail at that point. Oh well, a reason to sip on one in the next day or two!

 

I have one left of the batch I got recently (5/14) and I want to save it but I want to drink it, ugh lol

 

Pour them blind without looking at the date and let us know the results. Always fun experiment, but I guess they're pretty close in date so they should taste the same but I always enjoy doing this to see what my brain and palette come up with.

 

I don't have the newer (if there is one) batch yet, but shit I may have to order one tomorrow now lol

 

Party Wave is great, I just shared one with the Mrs(or the other way around!). Both of us agreed it was very tasty and well done.

I was surprised the ba mocha morning went so quickly, generally I order but I was out and about last weekend grabbing some stuff I needed, so I just stopped at kane for mosaic punch and was surprised the bottles had sold out already

 

It seems that they recent batch of bull hotel is better than the previous one

 

For me, its a try b4 buy at this point. They do so many other beers so well, i'd rather spend the money there

 

Galaxy also in general has been less than stellar in tired hands and OH beers in recent months. Kane's no slouch but I don't think they have special hookups vs other well established operations. Supposedly space diamonds by other half is doing better, so perhaps Brewers are working their way through the mediocre patch, but I know next to nothing about hop crop quality, yields, or how storage/harvest timing might effect the flavor (in Galaxy, herbal/earthy vs fruity). Plus Tonewood had a recent Galaxy focused beer people liked so...?
