I will poke at it... I can't remember for sure, but I don't think there have been single bottles of ANTEAD for sale in a LONG time, maybe . Any time there were extras it was just limited sets of a few of the full release instead per bottle, so really you'd never know what your base bottle really was costing. Again, I can't remember for sure, but I am pretty sure the last handful of years were this way.

Solo bottles of the summer 2019 release (base and coconut, no strawberry) went on sale one Saturday afternoon in august 2019. They were $30/750ml

The price for bottles of beer that are in high demand are not solely a function of their ingredients and the cost of making them. If they were, we would see (significantly?) different pricing. Demand plays a (large?) factor.

    Sigh.

Why am I not surprised you would be the one to continue the ridiculous thread of bemoaning prices, over $2. I really don't understand anyone being in the craft beer game when $2 is going to set them off.

I think it's more about the principle about the prices being different, not necessarily the amount (which still doesn't make any sense as a complaint given my comment above).

Yeah I was unsure about last year as I was on vacation overseas when that all was going down so I wasn't really paying attention at the time

I feel like we should be able to have a discussion about price where we’re not demeaning each other. Jon gave his thoughts here and asked you a question. I’m curious to see your answer since you seem very passionate yourself about this topic.

Welp, I can say that $20 is certainly not my limit. I can cope with a non-adjuncted ba stout by one of the best stout breweries in the world being $22, while also coping with the fact that the adjuncted stout is also $22. Keeping in mind that the price difference, if anyone bothered to painstakingly take every possible expense into account, might be something like $21 vs $23, instead of my previous assumption...? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But I mean, what is Jon asking for the price to be? What does he feel he is entitled to? Is Kane running a charity, or a business?

I'd previously broken down, in pretty stark detail, the prices for comparable BA stouts across the country, many that have won fewer awards and have had far less hype and clout behind them than ANTEAD has in the past.

Put it this way, I've paid $45 and $63 dollars for NON-barrel aged adjunct stout bombers by Horus. Was I happy about it, not very. But would I and my share buddies rather get it direct from the brewery, by-proxy, at initial release, instead of inflated secondary prices 6 months to a year down the line, sure.

Am I going to post about the price of every damn beer every time one comes out every time I post on a forum? No. Why would I? What's the point? Craft beer has always been a first world privilege and a luxury good.

Do you think Kane is going to cater to the 3 people that complain ad infinitum about the principle of a beer costing "too much to them"? Do you think high abv, long term barrel aged stouts should be the same price as the shelfies at the local grocery store, or worse, the same price as mass produced AALs made with rice and corn syrup? Where's the line for you guys? You complained about the fact that the ANTEAD pack locked you in to 4 bottles, and now that they dropped singles, still the complaining, without any constructive commentary or solutions. So I really don't see the point.

If you're really not interested in spending a competitively reasonable amount of money for these beers, why spend so much time talking about them? Put things into perspective.

Cause I’m team Sierra Pale @Sabtos

But to stay on Kane they’re really just a completely different brewery than they were in the beginning. I’m not sure why that frustrates me but it does as someone who has seen them since day one to where they are now.

More and more adjuncts, ipa factory (for the most part), inconsistent beers with high price tags (comb previous posts), limited release glassware, lines, more adjuncts, fruited lactose sours etc. So look at me as someone whose sad to breakup with a place I used to love.

    When is "the beginning"?

Their price per ounce for these big beers haven't really budged for the at least 5(?) years I've been following them.

If you're Team SNPA, why spend so much time concerning yourself with the prices of beers you don't respect or enjoy?

What beer would you like Kane to produce, and if they don't right now, what price should it be at and what comparable beer do they make and what price is it now?

I get where you are coming from, but I don't fully agree and that is fine we are all entitled to our own opinions. I willy say Kane has spent a lot of time and effort into Field and Oak, which we have yet to really be able to enjoy. I think a bit of what might have been on tap in the past which we see less of now is going to be coming out from there when its ready.

End of the day the market shifted towards to go/canned offerings (well before COVID/2020) and you have put into those cans what is going to sell and enable your business to grow. I feel like Kane is more true to their roots and what they have been doing since day 1 still than a lot of other places. They hop on trends, sure, but IMO they haven't completely submerged themselves in the full total hype only type stuff like other places have.

I would agree to an extent they haven't completely, but I'd say almost so. The current to go list and heck even over the past few years has been heavily geared towards those styles.

When they first distributed their beer to bars down the street from me, 2012-13. My last post had left price discussion I was talking about Kane as a brewery.

I'd like to see less of all the beers I mentioned above. I don't really follow your last question part though, but I'd say head high is very fairly priced if that helps for what it is. But again my last post had left the topic of price.

I appreciate the first part of your answer, which I found very interesting. The rest is you repeating your own pet peeves ad infinitum.

I think Jon brought up an interesting point. I do think Kane has drifted away a bit from their original thing. I think they make way too many IPAs and jumped on the pastry stout bandwagon when they were already making IMO the best stouts/porters in the state (by far). They’re still my favorite brewery in NJ (and possibly) overall and I still buy a bunch of their stuff. Used to go there a lot pre-pandemic and they had my favorite flight options of any place. But I do think as customers we are entitled to criticize them as well as praise them. I think there’s a difference between criticism here on a BA thread and attacking them on FB or IG.

If Head High is your beer, and you find it fairly priced, why do you want Kane to stop making other beers you don't care about anyway, let alone reduce the price to those beers? I mean, really? Are you asking for more beers like Head High, or for Kane to close their doors entirely because you don't like that they aren't exactly like they were the day that they opened? It just seems all so entirely pointless.

I've tried to end this with multiple posts now...answering each of your questions but you keep posing more to my answers, I'm not sure what your end goal is here. It is not worth my time or anyone else's to continue to respond to them.

You really haven't answered any direct questions, you tend to wiggle out of them by changing the subject and ascribing your intent in complaining about pricing to really just you wishing Kane was something they no longer are.

Oh well, I guess in 5 days you'll forget all about this and complain about the price of yet another beer you would have never intended on buying in the first place.
