Stupid question: are can releases (outside of HH, Overhead, Sneakox) every Saturday?

Definitely not every Saturday. We've happened to have quite a few recently but it's far from a weekly event.

If there is a new can released, it is almost always released on a Saturday.

Something like Sneakbox/HH/Overhead could show up on Thursdays. New cans are normally Saturdays.

I'm going to be visiting family in Jackson this weekend, and plan to stop by Kane for the first time. The only beer I've ever had by them is Overhead, so I'm pretty green regarding their offerings.

I'll probably pick up a 4 pack of whatever cans are available. Any recommendations on what to pick up in terms of growler fills? We plan to just stop by on our way home, so I can't go too nuts with the samples since I'm the one driving. Just wondering if there's anything that I shouldn't miss. Thanks!

Make sure you get some Sneakbox cans, and if Indicators or Party Wave is on for fills I'd recommend either.

Head High is their staple... I'm guessing they will have Head High, Over Head and Sneak Box cans... Get a 4pk of each. And yes, Indicators and Party Wave growlers if they have.

Anyone have feelings on the 2L stainless steel growler? Worth the price point?

Depends if it's worth paying extra to you to have the Kane logo on it. You can get essentially the same thing for about $20 cheaper through Amazon. But $45 isn't a horrible price for it.

Right. Will other breweries actually fill this thing with beer though?

I don't have there's, though it is stunningly beautiful, but I will vouch for stainless growlers in general - my Carton one can keep a pour cold under the sun, at truly hot temperatures, for hours. It's pretty amazing.

Other than a place like Tired Hands that only fills their own growlers, I've never had an issue filling other brewery's growlers at a brewery. I know I've even filled my Tired Hands growler at Kane before.

I guess I'm thrown off a bit by the fact that the thing looks more like a Nalgene bottle than growler.

Not all breweries will fill it, no. Someplace like Other Half would not fill it, because the mouth opening doesn't match the size they need it to for their CO2 purge. If someplace fills with a tube from the tap handle though, it'll be fine.

Depends on the make of the growler though. Some are double jacketed vacuum sealed, others are not. Regarding your example of Carton, my 64 oz steel Carton growler is not. Where as my 32 oz steel Carton growler is. The 32 oz keeps things colder much longer. Just saying not all steel growlers are the same.

For reference, here's the unbranded one from the same company on amazon:

yeah if it's not double walled and insulated it's actually worse than glass in terms of temperature loss... fill a single wall stainless growler with cold beer and the outside will be cold to the touch. That's not good, that's all the cold leaving the beer through the very conductive thin stainless walls of the growler. That's not necessarily a bad thing, if you're taking it right home and putting it in the fridge it doesn't matter, but if you're looking to keep things cool at the beach or something it'll need to be double walled/insulated.

I love my Kane Stainless steel growler! Great to bring to the beach too. Stays cold
