Kane Brewing (March 2016)

I had last year's batch not too long ago and it had a ton of coffee. It's the only bottle I've had, however, so I have no comparison to what it's like fresh.

 

Anyone know if Port Omna event is happening this year?

 

I was at Kane over the weekend - sadly after DB ANTEAD and its friends were gone - and overhead a bartender say that there would be no Port Omna event this year because of a lack of space resulting from all the equipment they've added. She did say the variants would still be brewed; they'll just be released periodically over the course of a month or so rather than during one big event.

 

Damn, was really looking forward to that. Was great last year

 

Yes - Port Omna day (or whatever the official name is - "Celebration of the Stout"?) is always a great event. Too bad - still looking forward to those variants, though.

 

They're going to release the Port Omna varients over the course of a few weeks from what I've heard. The standard one is up now and they put it on nitro, but after I'd left.

I was able to get the DB ANTEAD. Got there just before the line got crazy. So excited to drink this, I missed out on all the other releases.

Yeesh, I was being sarcastic here. I was going with the flow of traffic and may have hit 90 at one point but was not doing so by weaving in and out of traffic, I was just keeping pace with others! In honesty with the stop and go traffic on 66, I probably averaged a solid 30MPH the entire way there! Apologies for starting a stupid argument

Anyways, I didnt have to rush anyways as I got there about 12:30 so was ahead of the rush.

 

I just hope they take their foot off the gas pedal with all the bottle releases. Makes me feel like I need to keep looking over my shoulder to make sure I don't miss something haha.

 

It should be noted that this was a dynamite attempt to steer the conversation back on topic.

 

I was saying to my friend last night that these are probably going to be more frequent considering they have the bottling line now. They could bottle other styles and sell out pretty quickly.

 

Yeah I know everyone's now waiting for either Sunday/Mexican Brunch. It has been hectic out there haha. SSo many times from exit 143 to 105 for me on the parkway haha

 

What is next up for this time of year? Looked through the FB posts and looks like last year there wasnt much this time of year.. Noticed this post though which is intriguing (or is it something I missed?) from May of last year:

Elijah Craig bourbon barrels getting filled with a big, malty English-style Barleywine.

 

If they bottle Port Omna, and people scream and cry about getting shut out, then I just don't want to live in this world anymore.

 

if these people followed through with these threats beer would be a much better hobby

 

Any rumors about anything being released this weekend? (Tap or bottle) I live way up north and have off Friday and think I'm going to drive down.
