Because they were charging a ridiculously low amount the last 3 years. And see places like Toppling Goliath charge 50 bucks a bottle for a beer like Assassin which is inferior to ANTEAD. And $9 for 12oz of a BA stout is stupid in this beer world of Secondary sales and overpriced everything.

Its worth it and if anyone doesn't want to enter because of costs hit me up. I'll make it worth your while.

Yeah that will definitely open things up. Will probably also get a lot of people that will just sign up for the hell of it with no intention to pick up their bottles. Personally I think they should have at least required a modest non-refundable deposit. Was surprised I wasn't charged anything just for registering.

Unless you live incredibly local, do that many people know people that will register for them and then drive a distance to a brewery on a weekend so they can buy beer?

So you may only purchase a full set, there's no individual sales if you get through the lottery?

I think you will get a few crazy beer people that will hop on a flight or drive a crazy distance but I think the number might be a bit overstated.

I think you underestimate the population density in this area. We are also a very short drive from Philly/NYC which is obviously has an incredibly high population density. When I was standing in line for the Aslin Collab/Port Omna release there were multiple people that had been sent there by their son/friend/husband/etc from as far as an hour away. That was on short notice. People are now scouting through their address book asking for friends and friends of friends.

NOTE: Not bitching just explaining here!

TL;DR Yes that many people know people that will register for them.

I hold true to what I said last release, I can live with the lottery. It won't make everyone happy but it sure does level the playing field some.

Got shut out of the last release and lottery thay followed so I'm hoping for some luck. Still better than having to line up for hours and hope they dont drop the allotment over and over again.

There are 2 days to pick up... If someone wants to drive across country or fly in to pick it up, they deserve it. I like the lottery system because normally I wouldn't drive down to wait in line and possibly miss out, but this forces me to do it if I win. I do think they need some sort of club or something for locals though.

would be awesome if eventbrite allows the client to allocate the bottles based on whatever variables they could control.. ex... if 10,000 entries came from NJ addresses and they wanted to allocate 80% of the bottles for NJ addresses they then pick 8,000 winners from NJ etc... Not sure if that is a feature eventbrite has for their clients but it would be cool to allow the client to control some of the distribution of how the lotto goes...

not saying this is how it works, just would be cool if there was some control provided to the seller in this case Kane to set up the sale however they wanted.. Thus allowing them to pre allocate the way the lotto ran

being extra nerdy with it they could assign a % based on entries... so say Alaska had 10 entries and they wanted to make sure that somebody from every state entered won at a 10% rate 1 person from alaska would be chosen

I like theorizing on shit like this because it involves numbers and i like numbers/stats etc.

it would be sad if eventbrite has no variables they allow the client to control when running a lotto

I mentioned this in an earlier post, but it probably got lost in the slew of posts that came through in a short time. But I'm curious, how would people have felt about it if they charged a modest, non-refundable "fee" for registering for the lottery? Say, $20 or something? They could even donate that money to charity, which might even curtail some of the complaining. Not sure how much it would help but I'm thinking it might cut out some of the riff-raff, and make people think twice about multiple entries.

20 is "modest''? I think $5 would turn enough people away.

Definitely The most fair way to do it. Glad Kane went this route. The real fun will be a few weeks after when Double Barrel ANTEAD is a silent release with all the bottles people failed to pick up!!

I was in the silent release camp cuz that just works for me I'm 20 mins from Kane and free on Saturday afternoon. However I'm not sour about the lottery it gives everyone a fair chance but I would have liked to see it limited to NJ, or at least NY NJ and PA.
