Just wondering if the bottles that are not picked up will be re-raffelled? @glennl

I agree I'm going to wanna throw up when I see some rich hot shot from Cali post a picture of his 10 allotments that he had the employees of his company enter for him. When you open it up to the whole country some ppl just have the money to burn and show off

Its ANTEAD not KBBS. No one from Cali is going to fly 10 people to NJ for Antead. You are delusional if you think thats happening. Maybe some NJ people but no one is flying multiple people to NJ for this beer.

It does not matter if its a lottery, silent release or announced release, there will always be mules. This lottery actually makes it harder for mules because they have to win also.

Yes but mules also have time to rally and organize mules and friends of mules to put in the lottery. Like $20 for anyone who gets approved and goes or something like that. I think you underestimate how many people these guys know and how awful of a community that is. So whereas I'll put in for my wife and I (ANTEAD is her favorite beer) I can't be bothered to enlist 20-50 people to put in for me and show up, whereas the mules most certainly can and will.

I'm not upset with Kane or anything and I didn't mean my post to come across that way, I just think this gets more beer into less hands, which is the opposite of what it's intention is. We will see..

How is he exaggerating? Sure people from across the country can sign their cousins, uncles, coworkers and secretaries but that doesn't mean anything unless they're willing to pick it up...

Pretty sure they could get around any of that by giving all the money to charity.

All I see in this thread is a bunch of NJ people whining because they have a popular beer. NJ people complained that they had very little good beer in their state. now that they do they are complaining that other people want it.

Get the F over it. This is fair for EVERYONE. Sorry NJ people Kane wants their name out there in more states than just NJ, hence the reason they are doing it this way.

I agree with the first part kindly disagree with the second part. I believe Mike Kane has said many times that he is following the New Glarus models and wants to be completely available to New Jersey and to its residents.

I live near Other Half and I'd be pretty bummed if they did a lottery for some hyped collab and did nothing for the locals.

Clearly not. If so he would of done the lottery for NJ residents only or Did a silent release or no lottery at all first come first serve.

Once word got out that ANTEAD was bottled, and it would get out, you would have people lining up every Saturday Morning until it was released. I believe that is why the release was done this way.

@glennl Any word on whether same address would be an issue? Thanks...

I'm sure Kane has smart counsel who would have nixed this idea as it is against the law.

I would hope same address is not a problem. That would be telling a husband and wife or a brother and sister that they can't like the same beer.

Contest rules state one per person (not one per household) - so I'm really hoping not! Or else my wife is going to be pretty p*ssed lol

No, no, this is a legitimate concern. I just recently spoke to a thousand of my closest friends here in Portland, and have convinced them all to enter the lottery. Depending on the number of "winners," we then plan to charter a jet, rent an entire hotel in beautiful downtown Hackensack, spend a leisurely week traveling around NJ before heading over to the release event, and then coming back to Portland where I plan to hold a huge "locals only" ANTEAD stout party.

Oh wait. Damn! That's right. I don't have a 1000 friends. And the friends I do have all have jobs and would laugh their heads off at the idea of traveling to NJ just to pick up a 5 bottles of BA stout. Of course most of my friends already think I'm crazy, so...

Come on folks, get a grip. The ANTEAD variants are all very, very nice, but it's become relatively easy these days to find good BA impy stouts all over the country. So why would I (or most anyone else around here) want to go to this kind of trouble to obtain ANTEAD. I realize there are folks who have more money than sense, but even so, the cost involved in flying out for a release event, and then just to pick up FIVE bottles of beer, is pretty prohibitive.

If I lived somewhere in the Mid Atlantic area still, then I'd absolutely consider trying to attend this event. However, I think it's safe to say that there are not going to be a screaming throng of thirst crazed beer consumers (and their mules of course) from the West Coast signing up for the lottery (or coming out for the event).
