Kane Brewing (March/April 2018)

Did a little drinking #4science last night and cracked open my remaining Port Omna Irish Potato candy. Still great, lost a little cinnamon and coconut. Also did a side by side of original Imperial Sneak and this new release. Color wise old was a bit more "hazy" and had a creamier flavor, but they were very very close

 

Don’t get my hopes up but I do hold out that they’ll have a yearly lager in the future. Coastal plain was perfection, so clean, it was perfect. They don’t brew lagers nearly enough.

 

Therein lies the problem. To make a lot of lagers you have to make lagers a lot. It sounds a little silly but because its (obviously) a different yeast strain, yeast management becomes a critical part of the equation. If you're not ready to harvest yeast and brew another lager as soon as the first one is done, you'll lose that yeast. The equation also includes lagering time taking up tank space and the usual limitations I've brought up on here, which is why we usually can't brew back to back lager batches. But it's something we want to do more of, and yes maybe even year round/cans at some point.

is this for real? Green is one of my fav beers.. can't wait to crack a can tonight now. Holding out hope for some Omna variants in the coming weeks!

 

Yeah I should have bought more cosmic noise. Kane's "single hop + supporting cast" IPAs are always insanely good

Cosmic Noise might be one of my favorites. I wish I had bought more than a 4-pack :/

 

I got 2 4's each, excited to try it now, wasn't going to crack one tonight since I have some older stuff I wanna drink but I might need to now

 

Curious on your thoughts. My first few sips immediately brought TH Green to mind and by the end of the second can my tastes didn't change.

 

Opened a can last night. I can see why you are comparing it to that. I get that same kind of vibe, it is similar to what Green tastes like, although a bit different and not the same mouthfeel, ask weird as that seems to say lol. I liked it a lot though

 

It's been just over five months since I've had a TH Green so mouthfeel would be one area I'd be out of context on and it's certainly an important part of the experience.

It's more like they seem to be cousins rather then brothers. Close, but still unique of each other.
