Kane Brewing (May 2016)

My least favorite of the Hob Labs, but certainly doesn't mean it's not glorious

 

Yep, its not as good Citra but still good.

 

Finally got my hands on a growler of Hop lab Citra and wow! One of, if not the best pale ales I've ever had. Going back tomorrow to get a refill if it hasn't kicked yet.

 

The brewery is only open Thursday - Sunday and it looks like Citra was moved to samples only yesterday.

 

I picked it up from Buy Rite in Fairview, NJ.

 

There is a store near me that has Hop Lab Wheat IPA on tap. I had this in December at the brewery and really enjoyed it. Did they make it again after that or is this a 5 month old keg that they are serving from?

**Edit. I saw that it has been on tap for samples recently at the brewery, so I'm assuming they are still producing some recent batches, correct?

 

Somebody at the brewery told me that Kane almost never does a one-off beer. Hop Lab Wheat, Citra, Triple and a couple others have rotated in and out for the past few months.

 

There was a new batch of Hop Lab Wheat recently.

 

yeah, this reminded me of Hill Farmstead's IPAs for whatever reason. so yup a definite winner. was very happy with a growler of that and HL Citra this past weekend.

 

I just noticed that Mexican Brunch dropped off the Top 250 list and is no longer listed as the top beer in New Jersey. Is that because it is listed as "retired"? If MB is retired, that is (terrible) news to me.

 

It is decidedly not retired, FWIW. It was at EBF and I have heard directly from workers at Kane "It is our highest-ever rated brew, no way we won't brew it again". Granted the rankings might have changed . . .this was said within the last 6 months or so.

 

Let summer hours... BEGIN.

Kane (and Carton tbf) does absolutely everything right. I'm so grateful they're the local brewery. Great beer and they don't rip you off for cans, bottles, growlers etc... and they still do affordable flights where you can sample a good amount of beer without breaking the bank. Love this place

 

I have head high on tap at my house yet a small part of me wants those cans ;-)

 

Now if I could just figure out the powerball numbers...

 

I'm guessing Head High cans aren't something that will like sell out tonight right? Planning on stopping tomorrow on my way down the shore.

 

Same. Hoping I'll be able to pick some up for the weekend....although I have a feeling most everyone has this same plan.
