Dawn. There are a lot of variations on Dawn but no just Dawn.

Civil Twilight is the ANTEAD "small beer". Doesn't make sense to to tie into the "night" theme with an APA - their hoppy beers use wave themed names (Head High, Overhead, Ripple). By that logic, I think something like "Knee High" makes sense - but I also think that's kind of a stupid name.

 

I was thinking Dawn Patrol, since it goes with the surfing theme, but it looks like that is taken as well (several times over).

On the naming thing...what are the rules/laws with using a name that's already taken? There is a brewery in Jacksonville, FL that I've been to that has an IPA called Head High and a DIPA called Double Overhead. Not sure which came first. Interestingly, their "date added" on Untappd are 8 days apart.

 

I believe naming laws only become an issue with competing markets. That's why the whole Tired Habds issue with the saison was annoying because the markets don't mix.

I don't know if it's that cut and dry. I remember a few years ago talking to Jason Lavery from Lavery Brewing in Erie, PA that they got a C&D letter from a winery in MA over the name "Stingy Jack" which they were using for their pumpkin beer and the winery had a pumpkin wine with the same name. The ridiculous thing is that I'm not sure many people would confuse a beer with a wine, let alone a wine that is only available at the winery with a beer that is not even distributed in MA or the neighboring states.

 

I wasn't supporting the idea of naming it Dawn. I was actually pointing out that it was a bad idea.
My official position is I don't care what the name is. I will just drink it.

 

I feel the love. Just having fun here with a beer that deserves a name and a place in the regular lineup.

 

"Beach Break" or "Shore Break"? Both have a double meaning since a Hop Lab: Citra would make for a nice break while at the beach or down the shore. Although it looks like both are already taken.

Probably tomorrow. Seems like whenever Kane releases something it's on a Saturday.

 

Most likely Saturday. I think they said they are waiting on a few more things to come in for the canning line unitl they get fully up and running, not sure what that means for production. Last weekend was a small test run, and I believe someone said it was 200 cases... which is crazy
