I don't **believe** we bottled Fall Saints in 2017, so that's fairly old bottle. That doesn't mean it should behave the way you're describing, but we did not have any known issues with that vintage of FS so I'd consider it an issue isolated to that bottle. And it's hard to do any QC follow up 2 years post-release!

Mexican was a known issue related to nucleation points and foaming that didn't affect the quality of the beer, just your experience upon opening it. Nevertheless everyone was refunded. Time seems to have suggested that maybe fewer bottles were affected than we originally thought, but that's purely anecdotal, based on posts you see here and there indicating that there were no issues. In any case, I'd recommend you open mexican cold, and just be ready to pour it into a glass right away and enjoy.

I totally forgot about this. I've opened 2 bottles in the past 3-4 months that were kept in a cool closet but definitely not refrigerated since "purchase." Didn't have any issue with those, nor did I with the bottle or two that were opened closer to release. This could also be anecdotal, but I think the initial rush to fear/ judgment was slightly overstated.

It's weird, I've opened 3 Mexican Brunch bottles from that batch, and none had any kind of issues. All were shipped, obviuosly not always stored ideally, and easier to acquire due to the above news than might have otherwise been the case. Needless to say I was very happy to take such awesome bottles off folks' hands.

I am curious about how you determined it was the nucleation points. Presumably you have some sort of in house lab, but that's pretty impressive work so props to whoever is running that.

to chime on the Mexican thing, I had 0 issues as well, neither did my friend I gave a bottle to. I know some of the people who said they had an issue openly said they bought it brought it home never refrigerated it and just opened it after it was chilling all day and then decided to complain. People are stupid. The beer was 100% fine, most people I talked to/knew of had 0 issues and I made sure to re-spend all that refunded money on other stuff down at the brewery b/c while the refund was nice, it was totally not even necessary IMO.

@glennl thanks for the info. I was just curious, as the foaming caught me off guard, so wasn't sure if anyone else has experienced it. But it wasn't a huge deal, as I just wiped off the counter. Not sure how much foamed out, but it definitely kept coming until I got the whole cap off. And I didn't take a picture/video of the issue (just a picture of the bottle after the fact) since I was trying to get to the cleanup before it dripped down the counter into the drawers. But Fall Saints still tasted fine & I didn't have any issues with it other then the foam out. I appreciate the quick reply.

To be fair, it's an educated theory and it's more complicated that "just" nucleation points. But it's based on a lot of research (including in our well equipped and well staffed in-house lab).

All of my Mexican bottles foamed but like @glennl said, with a quick pour, they still tasted phenomenal. I still can't believe I got free bottles of my favorite Kane beer. Good customer service from the brewery.

Cool, it fits but I was wondering what the procedure was for determining something like that. Whether it was more theory based on research or fleshed out in the lab. Thanks for the reply

I'll keep my eyes out for that lab job postings :stuck_out_tongue:

I agree. I wonder if this is a subtle way to somehow appease the local supporters.

Youre going to a brewery. You're going to a brewery that sold a flannel shirt in a similar color scheme. Gonna have to be way more specific than that.

And saying "beard" will not help at all

It stinks but I think I’m gonna have to go early so no samples for me. Just got too much going on at home and trying to do the in and out. Hoping there’s not much of a line right before 10. There wasn’t for antead and I feel like a lot of people must have went last weekend with those extra bottles being released. Time will tell.
