Ripple is good but that is pricey for a mere 500ml. That is 22 a four pack

Especially for a low ABV session. Hopefully they start canning it because that stuff is very crushable.

If Kane would can Head High, Overhead, Ripple and Citra (Sneak Box) on a regular or rotating basis I would be a very happ man.

True. But I have never been drinking one and thought to myself "Wow I really got ripped off."

Since they won't be canning it for some time (if ever) I'm quite happy to buy the bottles when available.

I always wondered why two beers with so much hype and following, of which I personally believe is completely justified, are not produced more than once a year. With demand so high, and what I believe to be easy to make (in the sense that they are not barrel-aged and don't require lengthy time using up valuable space within the brewery) why not capitalize on a "hot hand"?

Is the reasoning simply to keep the beers in high demand? Possibly something else? I've heard that at most times every fermenter is full of head high or overhead in order to keep up with demand of them, but when a 4,000+ bottling run sells out in 1 day, its pretty simple to see that you've got something special. Here's hoping we see them again soon.

i don't think they care about "hot hand" etc.. they have a lot of draft accounts and i have to imagine they utilize their tanks accordingly to service all their accounts to make sure people don't go without their orders. they are expanding at their own rate and good things always come out of there.. why mess with that ya know. it's not broke, don't fix it

The answer to just about every question comes down to available tank space and not running out of beer for our draft customers who have been very loyal to us for the last 5 years. Historically there have been a lot of tanks full of Head High and Overhead, now we're trying to keep Citra Pale around all the time too. Throw in a Hop Lab and a seasonal here and there (I think I've said this exact thing somewhere on here before) and the tank space gets used up pretty quickly.

Plus we do several different bottles throughout the year, now we're canning Head High, getting set to can Overhead and maybe others... there's already not enough time or capacity to do everything we want without trying to throw MULTIPLE releases of the same brand into the same calendar year. That being said even if we had infinite capacity we wouldn't brew beers like the brunches year round... at some point you want them to be a little special...

Likely because all the adjuncts aren't cheap in the brunches + the 750ml bottles, on top of the fact threat they are keeping up with all their house accounts and expanding at the same time

I understand that ultimately, it's all about the capacity of what you can actually brew and taking care of accounts that you need to keep up with. And I completely understand keeping certain brews special, which they certainly are. But with such high demand, wouldn't one additional run make sense? Wouldn't it be nice to offer sample pours for over a month like how morning bell was available?

I'm sure there is a way for Kane to make money on the beer. Sure, the extra ingredients may raise cost and bottles aren't free. But both of those can easily be passed onto the consumer.

And I'm not saying an additional run would have to be bottled. I thought it was awesome that morning bell lasted so long for samples at the brewery. I thought it was a great opportunity for people who may have missed that release to try it out. Couldn't that also work for brunch?

Yeah, it did work a few years ago. I probably had Sunday Brunch a dozen times a few years ago. Kane is against the hype and more about the consistent product.

Mexican brunch was on for samples for a month or even 6 weeks last spring/summer. It wasn't a big deal, and no one rushed to the brewery. People didn't start freaking out until they did a tiny run of Sunday Brunch bottles that traded for crazy stuff.

I'll be in the area on Sunday and planning on hitting Kane.

Does Kane have any preference on type of growler (screw cap vs swing top)? I know their own are swing tops.

Also, I'm guessing a 1L and 32 oz fill are the same price. Correct?

Just to amend my earlier post it looks like Mexican Brunch was only on for 3 weeks or so, but they were filling 32 oz growlers. It was followed by 2013 Barrel Aged Silent Nights for a few weeks which also didn't create a shitstorm because it wasn't in bottles. That beer basically sold out on a Friday afternoon in a few hours this year (a few bottles for open on Saturday).

i'm sure this has been discussed before, but can anyone recommend a good restaurant within driving distance of the brewery? Looking to head over Thursday night (assuming summer hours are still in place) and eat beforehand. Thanks!

@NiceBeerCans has provided a great list in the first post of the thread. Beyond that I'd say just depends what type of vibe/food you're looking for. Not on the list is Avenue in long branch. It's a higher end place but they do a $9 beer and $4 Kane beers on Thursday.
