What time did you get there and was there any 365 or 730 left on tap when you went?

I don't remember exactly but it was between 12 and 1. Those beers were obviously still on tap at that point.

Do they still have room to set up those jockey boxes like last year with the canning line now in place? Should we be getting worried that the crowd is going to be a big issue this year?

I almost don't want to go, knowing how awful the lines will be.

As a local i will probably hold out on Saturday and keep my hopes up that some kegs carry over into opening on Sunday. Can't see myself wanting to wait in extensive lines or be tight shoulder to shoulder on a beautiful 84 degree day.

Exactly. Especially considering all the other great beer being released, constantly. I'm a sucker for HH variants, though.

I'll probably stop in on the way home from the Rutgers game. Hopefully its empty towards 4:30

I was going to wait until later in the day to stop by. Do you think there will be lines all day? I was thinking it would die down as the day goes on. I assume right at open it will be packed with the anniversary bottle. Not to mention based on their instagram post a few weeks ago there is a good chance of Over Head cans being released this weekend.

last year waited for the cognac variant (250 bottles, missed out by ~40-50 people). got there around 10:45, line was already wrapped to just about front entrance walkway. got in around 1:30 - waited in line for tickets for samples, then waiting in line for said samples.

thinking of skipping this year, will head in on sunday for the weekly growler fill.

imo they should do some form of ticketed event for this to control # of people. Or they need more space... They could also do two sessions if they did tickets.. like a beer fest. 1st session 12-2:30 second session 3:00 - 5:30... something like that... 250 tickets per session.. do the same on Sunday... would allow 1,000 people to attend during the weekend. Rotate beers as necessary.

for them to just throw up a big tap list and let shit just run as it will is kind of haphazard imo... they have been open for 5 years, they know what happens when x amount of people show up to their location... show some planning and control of your event.... i get that maybe they don't want an event.. if that was the case then they should have just done like a month long thing where special kegs for samples would appear throughout the month and just do the anniversary bottle on the one day etc. and whatever bottles are leftover are leftover

sometimes it baffles me when it appears no thought goes into potential outcomes of events like this. Maybe they don't think things will be an issue, but chances are things will be an issue

I'm also in the, don't want to deal with this group. I know it's going to be nuts. I'll be going apple picking with my family instead and swinging by Sunday at open to see what I could possibly round up. Not interested in fighting crowds and low bottle counts as this is something Kane hasn't really found much answer to. Hopefully some stuff makes it until then.

I dont know, I think their bottle releases have gotten a whole lot better. They don't preannounce anymore so there are really never any crowds just a consistent stream of people. The last Sunday Brunch was 6 bottles per person, that's pretty generous compared to a lot of other places.

I think this being an anniversary party is a whole different animal. But in general their bottle releases are pretty good now.

if you didn't feel like waiting in line for the cognac bottle, there was essentially no huge line to enter that day and bottles lasted weeks. anyone who was outside of the top 250 or whatever could have easily left the line and gone to the front and entered. my friend did just that and entered well before me. sure there were lines for tickets and lines for beers, but nothing out of the ordinary and nothing crazy, and lines for drink tickets were gone after a while. sunday brunch and mexican brunch lasted through the entire day, and i think the 2014 antead lasted most of the day as well. really not sure what anyone is complaining about honestly other than the normal people who are upset that they miss bottles because kane doesn't do exactly what they want for releases.

agreed.. their releases have been good... just figured some planning would have gone into the anniversary thingy and i've yet to see any... maybe they'll post something today and i'll eat my words

right, but there was no way to know if you were outside the top 250.

im not complaining either. someone asked about lines, i gave my experience from last year.

I don't even like the anniversary beer, so no bottle complaints here. Just stated that I likely don't want to go at noon knowing half the great stuff will be there the next day with no crowd anyway. Kane sucks when it's packed, it's hot and unpleasant. It's great when it's not.

ha, didn't mean to call either of you out by any means. just think that saying that kane doesn't put thought or effort or whatever into it is a bit crazy if nothing kicks until the very end and there's no massive holdup other than the initial anniversary bottle line (which can be skipped)...agree kane can in fact be very frustrating when it is packed and hot...that said i had an awesome time at the anniversary fest last year, got everything i had wanted and would sure be back if i wasn't headed up to boston for CBC this weekend.

I agree they did a good job with what was probably a much larger than expected crowd. The two things they could have done to improve were probably bracelets for the Cognac so number 251 didn't have to wait in line for 2 hours, and a better indication of how many bottles of 1460 there were. There was a line stretched around the building for bottles that lasted a few weeks. That probably could have been avoided.
