Check the Yale Terrace thread in this forum for the most up to date reviews. Definitely nothing like it in PA!

Edit: oops, a little late on that one...

Yeah I got it haha. The 3.1 on untappd seems too generous.

Was curious to see what these ANTEAD bottles would be going for trade/$$ wise.. there's a Rye set on MBC currently at $294!

Jug handle is pretty solid and close to Kane.

Personally i would skip little dog, nothing outstanding or worth going out of the way for - unless you're in the area often, then hit it up.

If you want to hit 3 breweries - Jug handle, Kane, Icarus.

If you want to explore Asbury Park a little bit - Dark City isn't bad, their sours are fairly decent (I haven't been there in like a year, not sure if they've gotten worse/better). I'd avoid Asbury Park Brewing.

coming home - could detour past Trenton up to Referend Bier Blendery. Adds maybe 20 minutes of driving in "perfect conditions"

Philly, PA -> Jughandle -> Kane (or Kane then JH) -> Icarus - Referend would be my Maps recommendation.

I'm always puzzled by those who are willing to pay that kind of money for ANTEAD variants.

The beers are really good, no doubt about it, but it's not as if it's all that difficult to find really solid BA stouts these days (for considerably less money). A friend of mine who's usually able to obtain ANTEAD was unlucky this year and couldn't obtain any, so I won't be getting any as well this year. I'm somewhat disappointed, but again, not so disappointed that I can ever imagine paying that kind of money for those beers.

I make pretty good money and so could pretty easily afford to pay that kind of price, but just can't imagine ever doing it (it's an opportunity cost analysis for me - there are just too many other things I'd rather spend that money on, even if it's just allocated for beer).

I'm trying to put myself in the place of a prospective buyer who can also easily afford to spend that kind of money, and I still can't figure out why anyone would do it.

If you're at Icarus I'd recommend going about 20-25 minutes down the shore to Heavy Reel. They're putting out some really good stuff, especially if you're into the DDH world, for a relatively new brewery. Asbury as a great town to hang out in but Dark City and Asbury Park Brewery are not worth going out of your way for.

In the relative vicinity of Kane I'd do Carton, Icarus, Heavy Reel and Jughandle in that order. If you did Carton it would be hard to do Icarus and Heavy Reel though, whereas I think its feasible to hit the latter 3 in the same day if you wanted.

If you're looking for stuff closer to the Philly then the Troon, Conclave etc. suggestions are the way to go.

I've never been, but I will try on my next trip to/from Philly, to Tonewood. I've heard it's good, but since no one has mentioned it, maybe not? Has anyone here tried Tonewood? I would definitely go out of my way for Brick Farm, Referend, and Conclave. But if short on time, Tonewood seems to be on the way to/from Philly to Kane.

Tonewood is my favorite place and I live pretty close. So much variety which places seem to lack these days or all too often just focus on hops. They do all styles well and can more than just IPAs which is awesome. In other words they cater to the hazebros and beer lovers alike. Great vibes, super nice people and the list goes on. Go when you have a chance.

Heavy Reel only if they’ve brewed enough for this week and decide to open. Interested to see how the “off season” treats them.

At 2.5bbl it's going to be super difficult to keep beer in stock, even during the off season.

Same issue twin elephant had, went to 5bbl in just over a year.

I'm looking at it from a driving distance. Jug handle, Kane, and dark city are all pretty close (plus just general AP stuff) and Icarus isn't that far off. Shooting up to carton or back down to Kane will add a bit of time. But if he's up for it - def recommend Carton.

    sent you a PM

Carton is a bit out of the way from Kane, unfortunately. Icarus is a must try if you are willing to fly the 20 mins down the parkway to get to it, and they always have cans.

Any one see that BBP posted a pic on their story they were at Kane yest

Are there ever any other releases along with the ANTEAD drops or do they just want to focus on getting that out of the door?

It is not likely that we will release anything else this weekend.

extremely unlikely - they have had issues with neighbor complaints due to crowds/parking, so no chance they will want to exacerbate any crowds/parking issues by having an additional release... but there should be some regular can available (overhead, head high and sneakbox)

The regular beers are better than any sticker cans IMO. I know it’s preference but I would take head high over any one off hoppy beer they’ve done. Doesn’t get any better if you ask me.
