Is this in response to me? When did I say anything about not spending money and time at Kane? They are one of my favorite breweries. Of course I enjoy the beer they make and am glad I have access to it. I don't think I am on the side acting as though I am entitled when I would have been happy with one bottle while people were there scooping up multiples of four.

Exactly. I love how people jumped to conclusions* that the people walking out with 12 bottles are keeping them all for themselves.

I got 4 bottles. Do you know where 3 of them went? To 3 friends that couldn't be there. Sure I got up early, drove an hour each way, used my gas, stood in the rain for a bit and just barely made it under the wire to get ANY bottles (#49). I could of easily said screw you guys these are all mine, but they do the same for me when they have an opportunity.

I think the fact that most people here that didn't get bottles are missing is that this round of bottles came from 1 bourbon barrel. They had a few more in the aging racks. If you would've stayed around a little after the bottles were sold out you would've see this. There will be more bottles.

    It's just beer, relax

I did stick around and enjoyed a few beers and, as I already mentioned a few posts up, saw the other barrels. Kane announced they will have a lower limit next time, so it seems that they are also of the opinion that people shouldn't have been able to walk out with four bottles each.

I'm not sure how much longer we can go back and forth on the same topic, so....How was the head high with pineapple for those who tried it?

Not sure, but the Bourbon Barrel Aged Overhead I had on Friday was fucking incredible. Blows Doom out of the water.

I love that beer. I thought I saw it on the menu on Saturday, but had my 9 yr old nephew with me and I think he was bored (although he loved the barrels!!) so I just left. If I would have seen the Pineapple Head High though, he would have been SOL.

It was pretty good, the pineapple (and I think it was brewed with mangoes too) wasn't too in your face but it was there. They were pouring it from a cask, I'd like to try it from a keg sometime to do a more accurate comparison.

The "you" I was referencing wasn't directed at you. It was directed at the people that bolted after they got shut out

Yeah can we go back to talking about how great Kane's beer is? I had to miss the release last minute but my friends all said the pineapple was really tasty.

Anyone else get the Mosaic Overhead they had at Point Beach Spirits? We had a growler at a bbq on Friday and everyone was raving about it...same Overhead hoppy bite with a tropical blast of hops. I hope they do it again.

I had the mosaic over head at sea of wolfs. It was awesome.

I couldn't get there until sunday night, so I think it's bulls*** that they didn't lower the limit to one sniff and three sips in order to spread the love...

Mango Pineapple Head High was good, but the BA Overhead and Overhead on nitro stole the show on Saturday for me.

BA Overhead was sublime. Wish they would've accidentally filled one of my growlers with that!

Not that this thread hasn't been derailed completely by the Essex love-in, but I'm curious if there is an end game here for people. How long do you think limited bottles should be available at a brewery when they release them? In this case, they were available until about 10 minutes before Kane opened. With a two bottle limit, I guess they would have been available longer though if they let people get back in line, probably not.

Do people think they should be available for an hour? All day? A week? How long do they have to last for people not to complain?

Personally, I don't think the time matters as much as allowing as many of your loyal customers a "reasonable" chance of buying a bottle or 2. The higher the bottle limit, the less a chance everyone has of obtaining a bottle. It's pretty simple math, with only 200 bottles and a 4 bottle limit there was a chance only 50 people might be getting it and many would be leaving unhappy.

I think you were on point before when guessing that this was many people's first release of this nature. Kane has blown up in the shore area over the past year and until now, essentially everyone was able to try all of their beers, save for a couple experimental one-offs here and there that they literally only made one sixtel of.

That's so not specific though. What's reasonable? An hour after they open? A few days?

edit: And I'm sure they have more than 100 "loyal" customers, so why even do 2 bottles. Why not just do 1?
edit2: And how long should Kane sit on these bottles and not make any money? The longer they don't sell them because they overestimate demand, the longer they can't buy recoup their costs and buy new barrels.

Guys, there are thousands of thread in the general forum discussing the ethics/fairness/methods of limited releases.

Can we please keep this thread on Kane and their amazing brews?

On that note, has anyone cracked open a BBA Morning Bell yet? my regular bottle of Morning Bell was incredible so I'm curious as to how they compare.
