Is this "by law"? I worked for an NJ brewery. We used to drop off kegs at a distributor in PA.

That's not quite the same thing as selling the kegs directly to a bar in PA.

How does one find out when bottles are available for sale? I'd like to make the trip down sometime, but would also love to bring a few brews home with me. I assume calling ahead is my best bet?

We usually don't find out exactly until a few days before... There should be a very nice release coming soon though. Follow them on Facebook.

When did they hire the current guy? Just noticed that there was a similar post on the same forum in December.

So, can anyone explain what is going on? Who is the brewer that has left that everyone is lamenting about?

Edit - Why is this important? Don't really know the dynamics of what is/was going on, just have enjoyed the beer since from about the start.

    I think it's a new position.

That was my guess too, the product of a growing brewery.

Pretty sure he was there since the beginning, came over from Victory according to the article they have at the small bar.

Clay was the original brewer from Victory. He has been gone for a long time, maybe two years gone. Matt is the current head brewer and from what I understand he is looking to start up his own brewery.

So any reason to believe that this is really a big deal?

All their beers are great .If haven't tried yet Carton brewing in Atlantic Highlands isn't far from their more great NJ beer .

Not a big deal at all, just surprising and worth noting as he has done great work at Kane. He rewrote a few recipes and introduced a few new beers. I like what he did to Cloud Cover and Solitude, others don't, its a matter of palates. I'm not a fan of Silent Night from him but loved the first batch from the previous brewer. Like i said, its nothing serious just surprised as i enjoyed the current brewer as a person and the handful of beers he brought to the table at Kane. I'm excited for who is going to be coming in but will miss how things were.

I don't think it's an overwhelming positive sign that Kane is going into their 3rd head brewer in less than 3 years. Especially for an overwhelmingly positive reception for almost all their beers.

yeah, such a high turnover rate on a head brewer job at NJ's most acclaimed brewery is really odd.
