Going to be in the Philly area next week. Will be with the family so it will be a one or the other deal. Which would you choose? Also good bottle shops near your choice. Thanks in advance.

Haven't had any Pizza Boy but I can talk about Kane and Carton. Both offer excellent beer, especially IPAs. Kane usually has some experimental stuff for samples/pours, while Carton will sometimes have one or two. They're about 20-30 minutes apart. Kane has a very large tasting room, so even when it's crowded it's not a problem. You can usually buy cans at Carton. Not sure about bottle shops near those breweries.

A bit confused. Are you traveling to either of those areas because those three are all a few hours from the Philly area.

I get one day for my beer hobby. Habit if you ask the wife. That's why it's one or the other.

As much as I like Kane and Carton, Pizza Boy has WAY better hours. So unless you are going on a weekend, it's a no brainer.

Yeah their hours do suck. But I will be in the area over the weekend so not overly concerned about it.

Pizza Boy has way more beers on tap than Kane or Carton and has a variety of to go beers. Plus they have food and is a little more family oriented. If you're in the area you might as well check out ZeroDay Brewing in downtown Harrisburg that just opened. Carton has great brews but its on the smaller side and ive never been to Kane so I can't really comment. I would use beermenus.com when you're in either area and see what's around that floats your boat. As stated in a previous post you're in for a drive going to any of the places coming from Philly.

Its also shore season, so expect extra traffic headed towards the NJ beaches.

Now that is a very good point. Didn't think about that.

Are any of the Pizza boy sour bottles still available?

Last I knew the Black Sour was and the Raspberry was running really thin.

I'm a HUGE Kane and Carton supporter and being in nj a few months now I visit both of them at least 2-3x a month. Kane is only open 5-8 fri and 12-5 sat and sun. Carton is only open Thursday 5-7:30 same Friday and 12-5 sat and sun. The hours suck if your looking to relax especially now it's jersey shore traffic time. There is no food even allowed nonetheless sold. Both breweries will have about 6 taps or so. I don't mind it since I'm only 30mins from both breweries so I can swing it easier but if your making a trip out of it you can spend a few more hours at Pizza Boy because there is food sold there and a great selection of over 100 beers on tap. If your at Pizza Boy then Troegs is not that far from there. I make a Hershey park, pizza boy and Troegs weekend out of it once a year.

Pizza Boy will also fill crowlers and growlers of all of their beers on tap, as well as most guest taps. And the food is super good. I go to PB every chance I get and have always had an awesome time. Make sure and get the cheese steak stuffed pizza if you end up going. You will not be disappointed!

I would say "none of the above" as much as I like them all. Philly has a great beer scene, why drive hours to 1 place when you can hit a bunch of great places in Philly and the surrounding burbs. Go to Tired Hands for Lunch, Victory for an afternoon tour and tasting and Monk's for Mussels and Pliny for dinner. So many other great beer places in Philly you'd be crazy to leave that scene searching for beer. And you may even get lucky and find some Russian River sours to take back with you at Hawthorne's, the Foodery, or one of the other great Philly bottle shops. Just too bad you are missing Philly beer week which is going on this week.

Maybe, but if you buy one, there goes your gas money for getting back to Philly.

Note that Kane now has expanded summer hours. They are now open on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and have extended Saturday hours to 7 p.m.

Second. Enola is not "close" to Philly. Shore traffic to Jersey will suck. There is more good beer in Philly than you can drink in a week, and you don't need to drive, so drink up.
