Picked up some cans yesterday and they taste a bit off, like there is something they used to sanitize the cans that is still lingering around. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yup I also agree and so do a couple people I know who also picked up cans. My first one I thought was hot. Very alcohol forward and not at all like I remember HH. After that not as bad, but something was definitely off. Gotta pick up a growler to compare I guess.

Agreed. Carbonation/mouthful is off and definitely does not taste like the same beer.

I have to agree with you guys. My wife noticed it on the first sip.

I agree with everyone above. Definitely something off... However, ill give them the benefit of the doubt since it was the first ever canning run. I have no doubts Kane will figure it out.

It might be a little green, since it was canned on Oct. 8. It might need a week or so to mellow out.

That is absolutely what I noticed most. It's got a weird flatness to the taste, and lacks the juiciness that I normally love about HH.

I only grabbed two 4 packs anyway. But, I'm going to wait until they sell out of this first 600 cases before I grab any cans again. I'm sure they'll have it all figured out by then.

Agreed. I definitely wait a bit with Green Diamonds and AGE is perfect at 5 weeks from canning.

And I wonder if the mantra 'Don't ever buy 1st generation electronics' can be the same for canning. Either way, I'll be grabbing some in the near future, probably after this 1st batch sells out and they do another canning run.

I have no idea of the validity of this but I have to laugh because I was not expecting to open this thread and see people thinking it was too fresh.

Agree with everyone who says it's a bit off. I definitely get a weird off flavor that tastes very little like the great IPA that Head High is. Letting it sit in the can for a bit could help it, but this may be a result of the first canning run gone a little wrong. Which sucks. This beer is great.

I think they are a little green as people mentioned before. I still thought they were good.

Frustrating that I paid 72 bucks for a case of beer that does not taste like it is supposed to. The taste is obviously off-and you know they must have tried these before selling. I guess they could have written it off and dumped the beer. Barrier out in NY did this with their Money IPA-they posted a pic/video of them dumping 30 barrels or something with a statement that it didn't meet quality control standards. Maybe use it as a tax write off to recoup some losses (?). Instead Kane chose to sell it. Can't say I wouldn't have done the same, but still frustrating. Buyer beware, I guess. Maybe next time I will just get a 4-pack. Also disappointing because head high is such a great beer and now people will be drinking it at my house and won't get the real deal.

That was my exact thought when I took my first sip just now. At first it smelled great but after a little while I'm noticing a metallic smell to it. I'm glad I only got a 4 pack because these might all be drainpours.

Has anyone contacted Kane about this or do they know of anyone that has and know what Kane's response was?
They must be aware of this im sure. Interested in their response.

We grabbed a case yesterday and just opened the first one and something is definately off...tastes soapy/metallic and that taste lingers long after the sip...not pleasant at all.

This. It's obvious there is a theme today with the comments on this thread. I have not tried the cans I purchased this weekend, but it would make sense for someone to give feedback to the brewery and post their response here so we can have some sort of validation.

I feel weird saying this but my cans tasted great. I'm tempted to get a growler now do a blind tasting though.

Just cracked my first can. Def a good brew. Not tasting sanitizer or metal. I asked the bartender how many cases they had left and he said about 300. That was around 4 O'Clock.
