Hi guys, hear nothing but great things of this brewery and plan on making the trip there when I come back from my holiday in Florida. Anything in particular that I should grab when I go?? Growlers, limited's, and year rounds ??
My uncle lives about 2 minutes from this place. I am looking forward to stopping by when I'm up there after Xmas.
Haven't been there yet, but their facebook lists what is on tap and in bottles. Not all taps are apparently available in growlers. The bottles appear to be limited releases.
you can honestly get just about anything and you'll be happy, but a couple highlights are their barrel-aged overhead and some of the unique hop versions of head high and overhead. also, a night to end all dawns. but again, you're good with just about anything.
I suggest allowing yourself enough time to do a flight or two and choose two growlers based on that. Note which beers are not for growler fills. If you have a smart phone, look up descriptions or reviews of the bottles that are available and see which ones appeal to your taste. That's my typical method. Oh. And have fun. - Joe
The brewery is only open for eight hours a week so I haven't been up there yet. Fortunately, a lot of their beers make it down here and I've really enjoyed their hoppy offerings. Try to grab some Head High, Overhead and/or Ripple if they're available. They also post draft lists and what bottles are available every Friday and Saturday on their Facebook page. It looks like they finally sold out of regular Apiary but still have some 730, Sea Change and Apiary Brett.
As mentioned before, their facebook page is a great help. They post around the time that they open on Fridays and Saturdays and list what is on tap and which ones are not available for growlers. They also list what 750 mL bottles they have available. Honestly, nothing they do will disappoint you.
Head High is an incredible IPA. When I visited I was fortunate enough to get to try bourbon barrel head high. That was a real treat.
A lot of their stuff i have had from them is great, for me their hoppy offerings are the clear standouts, i would say go with their IPA or IIPA then 2 more to round out the flight
Buy as many Sea Change bottles as they'll let you. A bit steep at $14/bottle, but one of the best beers I've had all year.
Kane is definitely worth the trip for anyone in the NJ/NY/PA area. I think they still have some Seven Hundred Thirty bottles left, so make sure to grab one of those - it is a one-off batch to celebrate the brewery's second anniversary. Also, as recommended above, get a bottle of Sea Change while you are there. There should also be bottles of Apiary Brett available, which the Brett version of Kane's honey saison. Also, as mentioned above, they have lots of great stuff on tap, so remember to bring a growler or two (after trying Head High, you'll want to take some with you!).
Very nice any of the IPA 's in bottle form or do I need to buy there growlers in order to take home ? Deff will be trying to get as much variety as possible.
Think everyone has hit the nail on the head by this point, but as suggested, I would go with a flight or two. Think they are normally $6 for 4 x 4oz. pours, and then they also do $2-3 4oz. pours individually, so it is pretty easy to try everything on tap and not be drunk. As everyone has stated Head High and Overhead are outstanding, and the last few times I've gone the "non-growler" taps have been fantastic as well in Silent Nights, BA Port Omna, and BA Head High. The Wegman's a block away from the brewery also has a great bottle selection and had bottles of the normal Apiary about a month or so ago, if you're looking to do a brett vs. non-brett comparison.
