Hey - most of you probably dont care but I posted asking about BLVD brewing about a week back and got lots of great responses and advice so I wanted to circle back with some thoughts. not that anyone cares... Loved KC overall - absolutely had a blast and want to go back soon. OK Joes was as good as I remember, Arthur Bryant's was very good as well...Jack Stack was a bit of a disappointment but still very good. ran a half marathon up and down Ward Parkway. That is a beautiful neighborhood! The bars and the beer - had a great time in Westport - what a cool location! Went to Bridger's bottle shop and the Foundry. Really enjoyed both. Bridgers is one of the coolest, low key spots I have been to with a great bottle selection and a decent tap list. Prices were reasonable. Foundry also had a good bottle list and decent tap list (couple of the taps were tapped thought) but was a bit too clubby for my style - still a great place and would definitely go back. We had quick stops at the beer kitchen and the Ale House (I think that is the name) and both were nice spots with good beer lists as well. Got to have Grainstorm and Rye on Rye on tap and LOVED both. Got some Founders at Bridgers (they dont have distro in WA) which was great. Anyways - thank you to everyone who gave suggestions and I look forward to visiting KC again!
Glad you enjoyed your visit. I agree with you on Jackstack. It's not bad but not as great as people portray it to be, in my opinion. Which year of rye on rye did you have? I saw a couple places had the '12 on tap this weekend. I've still got 5 bottles of the '13 left, looking forward to popping one of those babies soon.
I think it was the most recent year. It was at the foundry and I don't think they listed the year also I assumed it wasn't a previous vintage. Man it was tasty.
