I know I missed the Spec's release (damn Monday beer releases) but has anybody seen this left around? Was looking all over West Houston today and struck out. Have heard good things and would love to score one to drink now and one for next year.

    Thanks for the help!

D&Q Mini Mart.... in fact, go there for all your beer-related needs

Fun Fact: It just won the award for best bottle shop in Texas this week by RB

I went by the brewery and tried this. I was told by the waitress that is was pretty hot and to age any bottles I got.

I really liked it and could've had more even after my snifter.

I picked mine up at a Spec's at either: store off I-10 (near Wirt Ave), or the two stores just west and east of the 8 on Westheimer. About 2 weeks ago now. Sorry I cant be more specific. It was one of those 3 stores though.

You picked up a beer 2 weeks ago that was released this week?

Oops. Got it confused with bourbon barrel hellfighter. New to the Texas beers. Sorry about that.

I imagine the Wirt store will probably have soon. Its been said before recently, they have a great bottle selection where good beer sits.

You mentioned a non BA beer website.

Only one review on the Kentucky Habit now, anyone here have a take on it? I see that the bottles are hitting Austin now and I'm deciding how much of the beer budget should be allocated...

I would also like some feedback before hunting it down. I don't splurge on $12-$15 bombers very often and I feel like I might choose between this and BBH chocolate.

Thanks for the advice. I happened to be in Whole Foods Katy grabbing dinner tonight when they were unpacking a couple of cases of Kentucky Habit. I'll open one tomorrow and weigh in. Worked out because I also got to try the 2014 Abyss and Vanilla BBH they had on tap. Good trip to Whole Foods.

It's really good. It is a little hot, you definitely get the bourbon, but not in an offensive way. Nice vanilla from the barrel, not overly sweet. My girlfriend picked up on a lot of dark fruits typical of quads. It is a sipper and very enjoyable if you like boozy Bourbon barrel aged beers.

Gracias! I picked up a bottle last night ($13.99 in Austin), but I might give it some time to cool off a touch.

I drank it and found it delicious, but never found any quad. Still highly recommend it. I wrote about it for Houston Beer Guide.

There aren't many US made BA quads that have all of the qualities of traditional Belgian quads. They're a much less subtle take on the style. Sounds to me that if you like Stickee Monkee and beers like it, you'll enjoy this one.

I agree. My girlfriend picked up on some traditional quad like flavors, but I didn't notice them. Still enjoyed it a lot.

This was my take on it. Great beer, but in my opinion not as traditional as you might find. Still worth a purchase though.
