Does anyone know how long out Karbach is doing the most fun by dates on their cans? They switched from a canned date to most fun by.

I noticed this today as well. Not happy if they are switching from a canned on date to a best by date.

Real Ale is guilty of this too. Can't stand when brewery's do this. Terrible.

For me, the Karbach experience has been trending down for awhile. I'm talking pre-buyout. Admittedly I have not (nor do I intend to) been to the brewery since the buy out. However, in the years preceding, they:

-Had several price hikes on the 'tour/tasting' package. Started at $7 or $8 for 4 pints if you had a pint glass. Steadily increased to, the last time I was there, $12 for 3 pints.
-Limited you to 1 specialty beer per tasting package. This is reasonable, both from a liability stand point, and financially. Just a bummer for the consumer standpoint.
-Not accepting tokens that are not 'that day's color.' This really bothers me. Who cares when I bought the token? I've already given you my money. I am, therefore, entitled to the good/service for which I paid. They say they limit specialty beers b/c they don't want people drinking 4 Rodeo Clowns, getting drunk, and driving home. But then turn around and say "you don't feel comfortable driving home after 3 or 4 beers you've already paid for? TOO BAD!"
-Now evidently their removing canned on date? Clearly a move to make the product appear fresher than it may, in fact, be. You tell me when it was canned. I, as the consumer, will decide if I think it's still good.

To be clear, these gripes about Karbach have nothing to do with the buy-out.

I can see why they're removing the canned on date. ABI has pushed it into most gas stations. I can't imagine it moves that quickly.

Yeah, from a business standpoint it makes sense for them.
Likely, the casual consumer is not checking for the date. And if they are, they take "best by" at it's literal meaning that as long as it is before that date, the product is at its optimal flavor. When, in fact, IPAs are not "best by" 180 days after packaging.

I noticed this as well when cruising Staycation 6 pks. Not a happy camper and this will decrease the amount I buy. The last batch of Staycation my brother in law had was way off. He didn’t have the box to check the date. Thank goodness Jai Alai is in Houston.

Real Ale dates Three Lions out 9 months. That's a freaking joke.

And here I thought Budweiser had born on dates.

Thanks for posting that - very interesting.

I wonder why? I notice the same for Red King. Another hoppy beer. Lower ABV hoppy beers (pale moon, four squared) are a reasonable 120 days. Lost gold, a slight uptick in ABV, though is a more UNreasonable 6 months.
I wonder if they're figuring it'll hold up longer due to higher alcohol and kind of 'turn into a barleywine.'

This has been talked about a lot on these forums, bottom line is we don't really know why Real Ale does it this way. Oddly, all the Black Quad that I have purchased has a bottled on date...go figure.

I have some Bud Lite Orange in my back fridge, don't ask why, and it has what I assume is a bottled on date 18114 followed by some letters and numbers

Ppl like to age quads? As opposed to wanting a day old IPA, so different but equal maybe??

Now I’m thirsty for a black quad.
