Im not detecting anything Belgian about this beer. It's a good American IPA but if you rate it to style then, IMO would not get a good grade. What you say?
Karbach's seasonals supersede their regulars. I'll continue to mule them to Austin till we get them here. Still a good beer but if I want a local Belgian I'll turn to Adelbert's vs Roshambo.
I loved it. Not Belgian at all to me, but I like a nice hoppy American IPA. I can see how you could be disappointed by its lack of Belgian flavor.
I've heard very mixed things on this, from "best Karbach beer yet" to "complete miss on the style". Finally caved and bought a bomber, it's in my fridge. No idea what to expect at this point.
I'm not a fan of Belgians and i enjoyed it. I won't buy another but I wanted to see what it tasted like, and for $4.99 I was game.
Split that bomber yesterday during an Arrested Development binge. Enjoyed it, but (as others have said), I got virtually no Belgian presence. Good beer, enjoyable IPA, and one which I'll happily recommend to hop heads. Total failure as a Belgian IPA, though.
I talked with several people from Karbach and I believe the next batch will be more phenolic. We'll see when it hits taps.
