I prefer BCBS, especially this past batch, but I surely loved KBS last year. Again, palates change as do batches....look at how Hopslam became a BA Citrus Honey Badger to some this year!

I tasted '10-'12 this past week and found the '11 to be in a awkward phase. The coffee flavors were fading but there was still some coffee bean bitterness lingering which wasn't super pleasant. I found the '10 to be excellent though. Massive chocolate and bourbon notes but all the coffee was gone. I'm in the boat that its either 2 years plus, or fresh. Its weird how taste buds differ....

I drank my '11 fresh while I had just gotten over a cold....big mistake as it tasted like a mess to me. Enjoying a hopslam right now, honey badger don't give a damn!

I completely disagree. BCBS is a bourbon bomb with not enough backbone on the stout while KBS blends chocolate, coffee and bourbon in perfect harmony.

I say no on the $10/12 oz. Then again, I am not a big bourbon barrel fan though I do enjoy bourbon without the boilermaker effect. It's certainly worth a try though and I know my palate is not universal.

One bottle, yes. More than one, no way.

I got a 4 pack. It was good imo but $10 is way to much for a bottle imo. There are just to many beers like CW BBBW that are way tastier that you can get at $10 a 4 pack.... Not to mention countless other beers. Is it a great beer? Yes, but I would not pay more then 6 a bottle.

At a bar yes, but not retail.

Clearly you've already acquired one this year. Did you drink it? If so then it is for you to decide if $10 is worth it

I would pay $10 for a bottle of this if it meant that I could break the bottle over the store owner's head for ripping me off.

BBBW is a completely different style than KBS (English style Barleywine compared to Coffee Imperial Stout). It also isn't distributed in most areas that KBS is distributed in.

KBS is a whopping $15 a bottle at SmallBar on Division Street in Chicago. Looks like I'm taking my business elsewhere.

Fritts211; excuse me as i'm not used to the new forum format, and an old fart like me can't figure out how to Beer Mail someone like we used to. Anyway, I did well with procuring KBS this year and love Zombie Dust and other FFF brews. Send me a note if you'd like to set up a trade. I apologize 10 times over to all those whose time has been wasted reading this post.

You've already had it and paid $4.75 for it. Shouldn't you be able to determine whether a $5.25 markup is worth it to you or not? Talk about unnecessary threads.

    So true so true.
Anyways we don't get KBS out here in Cali, so I really don't understand what all the fuss is about. But there sure is a ton of it around here lately. You'd think people can't find another BA Imperial Stout or something.

Somebody please trade me a few 4-packs of CW BBBW if it's so easy to get.
