Headed downtown shortly to have my first sip of KBS 2016. It'll be my second KBS. The first was a bottle of 2014 cellared a year. I wasn't too impressed, but I also like lively, foamy stouts. I'm excited for tonight.

I like KBS. Scored a couple of 4 packs of it this year. I refuse to hate on it. The KBS is, for me, almost impossible to replace. Other so called "KBS killers" like Sunday Morning Stout just aren't as balanced or well put together.

At the same time though, I'm sorry. The KBS is and never truly was comparable to a BCBCS. The metric ton mouthfeel of the BCBCS by itself puts it in a different class of decadence, allowing it to layer flavors and hide abv better.

    Right......

Honestly hate is a strong word and there are very few beers that I dislike enough to use the term. In my opinion, its not a bad beer but for me it didn't live up to the hype and there are other beers I would choose instead. Not worth me getting excited about, however a lot of people do and more power to 'em.

But who knows, I'm probably just being contrary:rolling_eyes:

I was in a pub tonight and noticed they had bottles of KBS in the cooler. I asked the bartender what a bottle cost. It was $17! Now I think KBS is world class but that's outrageous!

I love Kbs but no way, the last I saw in a bar a few years ago was $8. That I would do.

I think it is an awesome beer, not the greatest, but damn good. I have yet to have the 2016 yet, but will try it on Friday. Can't wait !!!!!!!

Can't speak to the fishing but I agree wholeheartedly with the price point analysis. Not sure how anyone takes issue with $5.50 (if not marked up) a bottle for a barrel-aged beer of this caliber. Plus, you get 24oz. out of 2 bottles compared to the standard 22oz. bomber. I can't imagine anyone scoffing at a beer of this quality in a bomber for $10.99. In fact, that would probably be considered a steal.

    I Enjoy KBS , Did a side by side 15 vs. 16 & I enjoyed both of them -
2015: Mellowed out the coffee flavor just a little, & the chocolate flavor was there ! - nice !
2016: @ 12.4% this year, but not to hot - W/ great coffee and chocolate & oak bourbon flavor ! -Enjoyed Both !:grinning:

I really enjoy KBS one of my early barrel aged stout beers... still 2nd to Bell's Black Note which I had for first time in 2012 along with KBS, but I would take a KBS over many higher rated BBA stouts (except Black Note) :-)

Gotta say I do love kbs. We've been lucky in Northern CA to just get Founders distro at the end of last year and to get plenty of it here. I must say. though, I do prefer kbs bottled over on tap. I think there may have been more bourbon barrel notes in the bottled version while it was more subtle when on tap...I think I like mine a little more hot. But then again...what do I know. It's an amazing beer as is Bcbs. Both are slightly more easily drinkable than SMS IMHO.

Just had 2015 KBS last night and tasted great! Little more of the barrel goodness coming through, less coffee and less alcohol heat... aged great.

I tried KBS 2016 on tap last week. For the amount of alcohol in there, I find it incredibly smooth! I'm not the biggest stout fan, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I now have a few bottles in my possession, one in the fridge and one in the "cellar" (my closet).

The first KBS i had was a 2015 that i got in a trade, and i had it maybe a month and a half ago. Needless to say, all coffee and chocolate had fallen off and i was very underwhelmed. FF to two weeks ago after having a fresh 2016, and now i understand why this is so hype. Even my gf who hates most barrel aged stuff was loving it...which kinda sucks 'cause now i have to share my bottles with her

Loved this years KBS, and the price is right. Speedway is another great value, as is Ten Fiddy.

KBS is good not great IMHO I buy it because I am guaranteed a good beer drinking experience. When I want great it doesn't come to mind.

It's a great beer, but $10 and $20 a bottle is douchebaggery at its finest!
