KBS Bottle Release

Agree! The Spike Cutlass was great..would love to see this bottled.

 

Yeah Spike Cutlass was pretty great. I've heard rumblings that it's the base beer for Bolt Cutter, which was outstanding!

 

I received a few bottles of the 16' KBS yesterday... Extremely impressed with KBS this year! I only have had last years to compare with, but I like 16' quite a bit better. Everything just seemed so well balanced... The roast, coffee, chocolate... The barrel character is not overpowering and the mouthfeel of the beer is just right (not too thick or thin). I have no complaints about this beer at all. I liked the 15', but I don't recall it being as good and I ended up trading 2/4 bottles last year. This year, I am keeping all of them!

I still have (1) 15' I kept from last year, so I am definitely doing a side-by-side at some point.

 

For those who haven't had any luck in Oakland County yet hearing a lot of the smaller shops are expecting their deliveries on Friday and some stores in Macomb are stating Monday. I've been lucky so far and have scored 5 bottles already without having to wait in any lines with prices ranging from as low as $6 to as high as $9.

 

Knapp Meijer in GR has some right now.

 

I scored the last bottle from Jake's in Monroe for $7.50. Not looking good for me getting anymore. I am not complaining because I was able to score tickets 3 years in a row.

 

I am Sad to say I am Not feeling this bottle of 16. Super oaky. Tastes and feels a bit thin. I don't want to be that guy and I am hoping somehow my taste is just off today. Not what I remember at all, wish I had snagged a draft locally this week to have a good, fresh, comparison.

 

Sorry J, I think you are in the minority this year. This is definitely the best batch in recent years. But hey, everyone's palate is different
