    Hello,

I've recently found an offer for '09 and '10 KBS for trade. I offered a Parabola (14) for both bottles. My trading partner sent them promptly, but when they arrived it looks like they are 2011. Here's a quick picture I took earlier today:

I sent a message that those are '11 and my partner responded:

"Look at the glass stamp on the bottle. I didn't even get any 2011 KBS"

I'm 99.99% sure that those are '11 in fact, but I'm not sure which stamps he refers too. I have other vintages ('12, '13 and '14) and they all have the same date stamp on the neck I pictured above (with the appropriate month, day and year of bottling)

I just want to confirm if I'm not confusing something here.

I remember reading something about there being a number stamped/etched into the bottom of the glass referring to the year but I don't know for sure.

Yeah, I was thinking the same, that it is possible..but then, why would there be a big "BOTTLED 02-25-2011" on the neck?

That I do not know. I did get a bottle from this year that did have a 13 on one part of the bottom and 14 near it.

Yup. My '14s have the same. And a bottling date on the neck.
Maybe someone with older vintages can confirm?

    hi all.

i have vintage bottles from '07 to this year...none of my bottles prior to 2012 have a bottle date. some 2012s and 2013s do, some do not. some 2014s do, some do not.

*all* of my 2009 bottles have debossing with 08 and 09 on the bottom outside of the vertical side of the bottle (i.e., below the label but not on the bottom of the bottle). ditto the 2010 bottles except the debossing is 09 and 10.

i don't know if this is universal, but i've been diligently labeling my cellar bottles since 2007. of course, ymmv.

Thanks for your input. Just to clarify: your 2012 bottles have a bottle date (the one from my picture = on the neck of the bottle) from 2012 right? I know the question sounds stupid, but I'm trying to figure out if it's possible that the bottles I received are in fact pre-2011 but somehow have a bottle date of 2011...

I had bottles of 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 and they all had the bottle date on the neck like your picture. It appears to me like you have a 2011 bottle.

Yes, the bottle date on the necks is 2012.

None of my 2011s have a date stamp.

OK, thanks guys. I think that one's clear right now. I double checked the bottles I received and they both have the same date on the neck:

    BOTTLED
    02/25/11
    09:28

and the symbols on the glass under the label say :
    02 | 10
    36F | SG
    on one of them and

    02 | 10
    1F | SG

    on another

2011's most definitely have a bottle date. It's black and you have to hold it up to a light. I believe 2010 is the same.

The embossing is from the company that manufactures the bottles. Its not something you would use to figure out the bottling date from the brewery. Founders stamps their bottling date on the neck.

That pretty much summarizes it. Thanks everyone. Turns out my trading partner just didn't know/notice those stamps on the neck, but the issue has been resolved.

    And that's the rap.

    Leaving it up for reference.
