That's cool. Again, to each his own. Did you guys sip out of bottles or tap? I didn't have any tap.

Yeah, I wasn't slamming your palate by any means. My reference was showing that since all of us are obviously relatively new to big bourbon barrel beers, we're probably going to taste that more than someone who's had it a couple years in a row. We all had 3 a piece from the tap. I haven't opened up any of my bottles yet, so I don't have a comparison point there. I will say this tastes less boozy than Brooklyn Black Ops, which was very boozy to me. I'm going to do a side-by-side with BCBS and KBS one night so I can compare them.

Cool screen name by the way. Enjoy the band, love that album.

Also, thanks to the OP for the DG Binny's heads-up. I'll be swinging by there today since it's about 10 minutes away from where I live.

Of course they do. And Capone's probably says they still have Rare on the shelves...

Hmm didnt know kbs stinks now... $1500 later, now you tell me.

But is KBS really as thin as PM this year?

I do like me some PM, but I always felt the variable holding CW stouts back was their thin texture. The last PM I had was good, but I actually found myself preferring the (reg) PT5 I chased it down with.

Was your PT5th really yeasty? Maybe i just got the bottom of the barrel, but there was a good 1/8th of an inch of solid yeast cake on the bottom of all 4 bottles that I got.

Seemed to taste the best at around 50-55 degrees or so.

Think that's called a coping mechanism...any psych majors want to back me up on this? I still love it but at the prices i'm seeing, i might pass this year. $25 a 4-pk is just too much cheese for me.

But I do love me some KBS, i might take my chances in the ISO:FT forums once the hype of people trying to get a Chocolate Rain with a 4-pk dies down. :slight_frown:

An inch sounds pretty crazy! You must have lost a good 1-2 oz of beer there. But, in all seriousness I have found most Dark Horse beers, especially the stout series to have a nice thick, sludgy, yeast cake on the bottom. You can be careful not to pour it into your glass or take it like a shot and enjoy the B vitamins like I do  .

Edit: I now see you said 1/8 of an inch... totally normal. I can read. I can!

1/8 of an inch. But yeah, I am starting to notice that as the trend from Dark Horse...

Would you blink at paying $12 for a bomber of KBS? I know I wouldn't, lol.

True, never really thought of it in those terms. I do wish they made bombers of KBS, those would be SWEET!
