I have had it at 1+ years a few times but never fresh until this past weekend. Holy crap this beer is good fresh. I gave it a 5, but felt that 1 to 1.5 years of age was a 4.25 to 4.5

As of today, fresh 15 > aged 14.

This is the first year I've been able to get KBS. It's fantastic fresh but I'm putting some back as well. Looking forward to the experiment.

Any tasting notes on cellared KBS? In my opinion Breakfast Stout looses it coffee flavor over time. I love the strong coffee front end of this years KBS... so I am not sure if I want to put any away for next year. And since I didn't have the will power to keep any of last years for more than 3 month, I have nothing to compare.

KBS with 6 months on it is just bad. If you're going to sit on one sit on it a full year. Since you only have two I would drink them both now. I've kept KBS from '13 and '14 and I'm not letting any of my '15 age.

Compare it to the breakfast stout. It will also lose the coffee taste over time.

It barely has any coffee flavor to enjoy. Who cares.

I'll be drinking Sunday Morning Stout fresh though.

A '12 I had in '14 was better than the '14 I had in '14. I got four this year and will hold on to some if I can manage.

I have a full vertical from 2012 currently.. 2012 was fantastic, even with a year, and with 2 was great still.

    13 was fantastic..

2014 and 215 have gotten thinner and slightly boozy. 2014 lacked barrel, IMO, 2015 has it, but doesn't have as much coffee as 2014

I've had success cellaring KBS. I had a 5 year vertical 09-14 last year. My favorite was the '12. I don't know if age had much to do with that or simply the fact that it was the best batch. I do enjoy KBS fresh quite a bit, so I would say - do it for science if you can also have some fresh.
    Cheers

'Success' is a very relative term. For those with only a few bottles, drink them, now and later. Quit thinking there's a science behind this, there isn't.

I like the three options in the poll.

I disagree about the science. There is ultra scientific possibilities here.
In fact, PM if you'd like to have me report back on the effects of consuming your KBS in a San Diego "lab" environment while I wear my nothing but my robe on a Sunday morning exactly two weeks from now during the next half moon. Who knows what we'll discover?!?*

*1 bottle of KBS required per scientific request

Drank a 2014 KBS at the same time as a 2015 KBS. 2014's was hands down way better. So excited to build a 5 year vertical. It got AMAZING with a year on it.
