KBS in DC

I don't think they have a system in place to prevent that directly, but they're making you request the beer at the customer service desk and the bring the bottle to the register. I suppose as long as the person working the desk doesn't recognize you, or if you happen to get a different person when you go back, you'd be OK.

The hype about this beer is insane though. The only reason I got involved is because a friend of mine will really love this beer and it's her birthday. Go grab a bottle if you have the free time and enjoy it, otherwise be happy with the thousands of other awesome beers you can get whenever you want.

 

Glad to help! My hunting mearly consisted of calling different stores. While I do live within walking distance, I did bolt from work to go get the 4 pack.
I had one last night as well. I thought it was tremendous. I had it once before on tap @ Galaxy Hut, but that was a long time ago and I hadn't really known what I was drinking at the time.
The bourbon finish is great. Will definitely keep the remaining bottles for some time. It will be interesting to see how other BA beers compare.

FYI - Sunday Morning Stout hitting the area for all the people that couldn't get any KBS. Just picked up a bottle in MD.

$15.99. there was a lot of confusion over that actually. all of the other lickinghole creek beers they had in stock were priced at $12.99

Just called them and they told me, "No, we didn't get any, but we did get KBJ today."

So did they get it or not? For some reason, I'm going to trust a fellow BA over a TW employee on that one.

 

Presumably at a cheaper price and you could buy a whole four pack?

 

Welp, just called Planet Wine in Del Ray and they sold out of it... This has always been my go to place, surprised it went so fast, thought the place was more of a secret but guess not....

They have the illuminatos stashed by the taps/ draught beers. basically that desk/ bar you walk up to, the illuminatos case is hiding inside that. they got one case.

 

Well, I bought a bottle in Montgomery County...sooo pretty expensive. But yes, other places selling 4 packs around $15-$16 in DC/VA. At the brewery it's $13 for a 4 pack. Can't wait to crack this baby open when I get off work while all you fools are guzzling down your KBS. And by fools, I mean lucky sons of bitches.

 

Sterling TW has it. 1 bottle PP, around $6.

Schneiders may still have some. I picked up some today and he told me he got a ton of calls and emails but not many people in the front door to pick up anything. 7.99 a bottle.

 

Last year I found it on tap at RFD in DC the saturday after the release (which was on a Monday I think), so its worth checking there. Its in Chinatown. They usually have a good tap list, but its not a big beer geek destination, I think it stayed on tap through the weekend. You might not have to go all the way into the city though, there are some good beer spots along the way. I would call Fireworks Pizza in Leesburg, Carpool in Herndon (not the one in Arlington), possibly World of Beer in Reston, all the Lost Dog locations, Westover Market in Arlington, Rustico in Ballston. Interestingly, the Whole Foods in Fairfax has not posted anything about KBS all week, they almost always get these releases in and post on Facebook about how and when they will be sold. I think the beer guy Lee has been off work this week, so its possible that he's waiting til this weekend to sell it. It might be worth it to follow them on Facebook for a while, its Whole Foods Beer Market. They also might get a keg, they had a keg of CBS a few months ago.

Edit: I just checked WF Fairfax's page, they will be getting it on Friday.

 

I thought I saw that they had posted to Facebook..I believe it said Friday around noon is when they will be getting some in. As per most places, they will have a 2 bottle per person limit.

 

Yeah you are right. That place sells out super fast too, you'll probably need to get there before they announce it to get bottles. Its almost always around lunch time. Its not a bad spot to hang out and wait though if you have the day off. Lots of good beer on draft, TVs with sports on if you like that.
