is it going to be exclusively at the downtown location; will other Spec's locations get it?

Please, no. Not going to wait in line for 2 bottles. I could probably get that much somewhere else with less hassle. I like Spec's but don't usually play the release game there.

makes it not even worth the time....

finally landed a couple in a trade earlier the year... frankly I'd rather have BBA hellfighter... not having to deal with lines or be at a certain place at a certain time to get it makes it that much more awesome....

i don't know if i've ever publicly given thanks to the management at karbach to relocating Mr. Warner in state, but now seems a good a time as any! Thanks!

be honest.. is any release that's held at spec's downtown, ever worth the time? sure as shit isn't for me. a couple of bottles of beer i can get easier other ways in the middle of the day on a weekday? naw, man, naw.

also, you're denigrating kbs by drinking it aged, which, i'm assuming your "earlier in the year" trade was for. drink this shit as fresh as possible, that's word.

on the bbhf side, if you're paying what, $16/22oz? you can get your kbs for about that much [er ounce by trading shit from the shelf around here. or shit you can get on the internet without putting on pants.

queuing up at spec's is for the birds. your time is worth more than that. value it. think about what you're doing and perpetuating.

By random chance, I ran into a Ben E Keith rep this afternoon at Specs. He speculated (saw at the warehouse) that there were about 20 cases for the distribution area including Houston. Not sure how wide that is, but it didn't sound like much.

sounds about right, considering the past releases Founders has sent to Houston (Mango Magnifico, last years KBS, etc). Apparently Houston is not a significant market for them, as they seem to keep sending us far less of their special releases than places with significantly less population (and likely less consumption - however I don't work for a distributor, so how much founders houston consumes is pure speculation).

Well, unfortunately, I've never been able to get my hands on KBS fresh, so it was either try it aged, or not at all. I managed to round up a few extra prairie bomb!s and noirs for trade bait, and i wanted to try it. frankly, I would rather of had of the bomb!s and noirs than the aged KBS and 3-month old hopslam I got in return... but that's a lesson learned. now I know. get hopslam in december, or don't get it... lol...

and you're right, I'm not standing in a line for beer... ever. If I can't walk in the front door, track down the beer guy, get what I want and walk out again, it's not worth my time. There is plenty of A+ beer on the shelf that waiting in line for a special release at an inflated price just ain't gonna happen (that is not meant as a jab against spec's or any of my other shopping locations - i will pay what it costs if i want it enough).

the only reason I compare it to BBH is that they're both bourbon barrel aged beers... price is really irrelevant to me if it's good beer and I feel it's worth it.... and i don't have to wait in a line for it.

and your right. rarely is it worth my time to go to spec's smith street for any release... and I live and work less than 10 miles away! lol...

I don't think all of DFW got much more than that, maybe 25-30 cases.
