Figured it's about time someone started this thread in here.

I missed out on KBS last year so I'm determined to find some this year. Has distribution started yet? Anyone seen any out and about?

I heard it will be hitting shelves on Tuesday in Louisville. Called LB and they told me they expect it on tomorrow's (Tuesday, April 2nd) truck. I will report back if/once I see it.

We should get more than we usually do just for the namesake alone!

Actually, we complained about the name ``Kentucky Breakfast Stout'', which is why Founders changed the name to ``KBS''. It seems that the word ``Kentucky'' in a beverage name is something like an appellation controlee and a beverage can't bear the name ``Kentucky'' on its label unless it's actually made in Kentucky.

More to the point, I agree with you. We should get more. Unfortunately, we usually get less (probably Founders paying us back for bitching about the name). :slight_frown:

Anybody heard when it will show up in Lexington? I would be real happy if it would land on Tuesday, that way I could head up there and get some before I left for a short 3 days in Pigeon Forge. I am sure there will be none to be had in that neck of the woods.

Word is that the number of cases in ky will be similar to years past but it is now coming in 1/4bbl instead of 1/6 bbl on draft. So it should be on tap for longer at more places this year. The bottles will still be scarce.

Party Town in Florence (Northern KY) has it. They only got in 2 cases so they are selling it one bottle per customer. They still have a little bit left. They keep it in the back so you have to ask for it.

Whole Foods here in Louisville is doing a one bottle limit as well. I had heard there might be a little more to go around this year but obviously not.

Real quick, to everyone that bought some, what did you get it for? Admittedly, I haven't bought packaged KBS in over a year, but I just got a 4 pack and it was $24, which would be around $6 a single. That's more than I've paid for draft in a bar.

Oh yeah, LB Hamburg in Lex has some, have to ask for it, limit one 4 pack per person. Guy said they have less than 2 cases left, but he could have been exaggerating. I was going to get friends to mule some more, but at that price, I might settle for Breakfast stout and a shot of bourbon.

I feel real bad for the guys who work at that shop. They have to answer hundreds of phone calls just so they can sell 2 measly cases. It's hardly worth it for them.

Founders did increase their production, but the problem is that they also increased their distribution as well. It's like spreading MORE jelly over a BIGGER piece of bread. The only ones who come out ahead are the folks in Michigan since (I believe I read this somewhere) Founders always earmarks half of the KBS production for their home state.
