Windmill Liquor in Orleans had some behind the counter this afternoon.

Just when I lost hope for grabbing a 4-pack in Boston, I luck into a 4-pack on the Cape.

My local shop, plaza package in great barrington, is charging $10/bottle, and it has been sitting on the shelf since last week. So lame.

$10 for a 12 ounce bottle is still cheaper per ounce than Vanilla Rye was.

True, but not comparable in terms of quantity and — at least to me — quality. I'd pass on $40 four packs of KBS, but buy a case of Vanilla Rye at ~$30/per.

Jeez, I believe Christopher's had a 10 oz. pour for $9. And my bottles were $6 each. There's some serious pricing going on between the bars and stores here in MA....not that that's news or anything.

I guess my point is - there are plenty of BA bombers that cost in the $20-$25 range (for 21 to 25 ounces) and nobody blinks (not just the BCBS stuff but Darkness, BA Rasputin, etc). so I don't know why people think $10 for 12 ounces of KBS is outrageous. Well, I do - it's the format. We've been trained to think that somehow bombers *should* cost more. but the beer is beer. as consumers we'd be better off if far less beers was packaged in the premium "bomber" format.

I'd actually far prefer to pay a bit more per ounce for a small format bottle, just b/c it's more convenient.

when I saw that Stoddards and others were charging 12$ for a 10 ounce pour I was somewhat shocked. a) I find the beer to be overrated, give me a BA JA over it any day b) that's absurd

I actually agree with you on the small vs. large format question. The reason $10/bottle annoys me is that I very rarely do purchase $15+ bombers, and when I do, it tends to be one time only, to try something that I won't get another shot at trying. In this case, I've had plenty of KBS, it will come around again next year, and it's not intended to be priced that high at a retail shop. It's not the end of the world, just a minor irritation.

I completely agree; apologies for misreading/misunderstanding your post. It really irks me how successful breweries/retailers have become in setting expectations for price points based on format. Many of us (myself including) pay prices for beers packaged in large format bottles that we'd never even consider in a 4/pack or 6/pack. It drives me crazy to see people give Nightshift a hard time for pricing a 4pack of Morph cans at $12 but you don't see outrage over $6 bombers, which is actually more/ounce, and much less convenient. Thankfully, many places seem to be moving away from larger formats for hoppy beers at least. I can only hope that when the new space is up and running we can get some Trillium IPAs in 4 and 6 packs!

KBS is on draft at Salty Pig tonight. Pretty low key when I was there a couple hours ago.

For western MA folks looking for bottles, Cooper's Corner in Florence had some for $5.95 each, 1 pp, and about a dozen on the shelf earlier this evening.
