In my ranking, I'd put High Westified above BA Framinghammer and below KBS, but the rest would be the same. If the mouthfeel on High Westified was a little thicker, it would quickly move to second place for me, right below BCBS.

And High Westified does have coffee. No coffee in BCBS or BA Framinghammer though (unless you get the coffee variants; I assume we're talking about the regulars).

Gordon's Waltham had 4pks for $25 and bombers (no price listed), limit one or the other.

They also have a bit of the SMS as well, both singles and 4-packs.

The Framinghammers are excellent but different since they're porters, High Westified is an insane value, and I only had "normal" (non-coffee) BCBS but all things being equal my favorite BA beer was...BA Outside the Lines from Trillium. I know! I suck, but never had a beer quite like that. High Westified was second, BCBS third with the Framinghammers close behind. Looking forward to trying this year's batch of KBS. So many great beers! What an awesome problem to have.

Total Wine in Natick had about 3 cases of KBS on an endcap, bombers too. They also had Sip of Sunshine and Super Session 2 in the cooler, and Foley Prospect in a 4 pack by the back manager's area. Huge haul today.

Just got back from Total Wine in Natick, and I got what looked like the last 4 pack. I also picked up a bomber of it too, and there were almost two boxes of those left at 9pm.

Had a bottle tonight; I'm sure part of this is changing tastes, etc. but I thought it was good, nothing more. Did not wow me the same way BCBS does each year, and I've been drinking both beers for the same amount of time. I had it after eating a spicy meal with schezwan peppercorns, so that likely impacted things. I was lucky enough to snag a 4-pack this year, so looking forward to opening another bottle soon.

I don't think Framinghammer is different at all being a porter. It's a Baltic Porter which is important to note because they are very different. And JA doesn't really brew it in the classic sense but more like an imperial stout. Just like Hoponius is similar to an American IPA. It fits their lager shtick while being able to put out a big BA stout.

You're not alone. When Paste did this blind tasting in 2015, KBS was #1 (granted that was out of 23, but this also highlighted the sheer amount of barrel-aged stouts out there now to compete with it).

Now it's #38, but BCBS is still #5. And remember, this is a blind tasting, so there's no bias.

I grabbed a 4-pack for $23 at Total Wine and Spirits in Natick yesterday evening and had a bottle at a beer share last night. I wasn't overly impressed either. Didn't get much coffee or chocolate on the nose or flavor. Tons of bourbon at the end though. Kinda regretting dropping that much money on a four pack. The BCBS was absolutely better that I had a few months ago. IMO, my money woulda also been better spent on one of the barrel aged Framinghammers or Exhibit 'A' Sunday Paper.
