You should have done it anyways. These places need to be called out on their bullshit to their face.

 

I tend to agree. The store actually has a bunch of rare stuff, including Pappy VW, which are also outrageously priced. My takeaway is mostly just not to shop there. This is really in the hands of the distributors/brewers to limit allocations to folks who overcharge customers, assuming either of those folks care. There are actually things I would overpay for, but it would be due to the fact that travel and shipping costs for me to obtain it would make it worth paying. If there's anyone that I would expect not to care about liquor store gouging, it would be MBC since they already seem to support $8 16oz beers.

 

Yes, their Van Winkle pricing is 1.5x secondary. He's had those bottles for a few years and it just chaps my ass every time I'm near his store. I don't even have to go in to get pissed off at his pricing.

I'm sure, someday, someone will drop their drawers and pay him the money he is asking. Worst of luck to him.

Today is supposed to be the national release day from things I read. Are retailers expecting drops? Can anyone confirm pricing they're seeing? @YS1977 could perhaps fill us in...?

I'm assuming you'll be able to go to total wine and grab a 4 pack no problem. This beer seems to have lost a lot of the hype in recent years. Still a phenomenal beer IMO, but I find myself choosing lots of my own cellar options over it.

 

just grabbed a 4-pack at kappy's in norwell, 23.99...they had 3 and half cases on the floor where you take the corner to get to the warm beers. no limit.

also, union brewhouse in weymouth has 2017 KBS on tap. they tapped it monday, 1/3 barrel i believe. doubt it lasts the weekend. it's tasting delicious.

 

date check on the kappys 4pk? As far as I know, 2018 KBS has not made it into Mass despite the Founders tweet..

Empire Wine in Kingston we got 3 cases of 4packs and 1 case of bombers

 

You should see deliveries of KBS for most of the state starting next week. Some parts may have already been delivered on Thursday or Friday of this week, since Founders is distributed through the Sheehan network in Massachusetts. The Sheehan network has a couple different branches in Massachusetts which operate independent from one another, so the timing isn't always perfect between the branches on when things are released and delivered.

We're going to release KBS at all 4 of our locations on Friday 4/6. We wanted to make sure that people who usually working during the week, at least get a chance at purchasing it on Friday. We'll be doing 1-4pk per person.

 

Price check on 4 packs? Gasparros in seekonk has 4 packs for $25, which seems super high considering the suggested retail price

 

$24.99 is at normal margins for beer; that's the same price we'll be selling the 4 packs.

The suggested retail price comes from the brewery. But, once the case gets delivered to the Massachusetts Wholesaler/Distributors they (the Wholesaler/Distributors) can factor in freight costs, excise tax, and other factors which figure into the case price that's shipped to retailers.

Can't believe CBC is still at it with their hype games. I was finding KBS at multiple stores last year, well into the summer.

 

I didnt see it last that long in my area, but considering we now get so much sunday morning stout that it's practically year-round around here, i dont feel as much of a need to chase KBS or pay exorbitant prices.
