Managed to finagle a barrel of shaggin for the bar. Expect to hear something when I figure out what to do with that, the insanity, and the BCBS...

I'm just hoping there's nothing else interesting that's going to show up in Madison during the next month or two (outside of NG Dancing Man). My wallet isn't going to be able to handle it.

 

Which bar do you work at BTW? I want to be there when you're tapping all of that goodness.

 

At the Blue Moon on old university. We just put in a 14 tap tower in January and have been dabbling in the good stuff since November. Hard to say when all that will be tapped just yet. Probably not till after beer week. =/ The logistics of that is already making my head spin. Or is that the beer in my teku...

 

That's awesome. I'm at the hospital most of the time so I've been there occasionally though not recently even though I live a couple blocks away. Didn't know you guys have been getting good stuff like that; I might just have to make it a point to spend more time there.

BTW I think that's from the beer in your Teku. How are you liking the KBS?

Yeah I think that concluded the Great KBS Derby of Madison 2013. I wonder what's next for us! (I'm hoping its nothing much for a few months, just to give my wallet a chance to recuperate)

Should also add that we have 134 posts to Chicagoland's 118. Yet, only about 3k views to their 5k views. Yikes.

 

Wow, can't believe you guys are posting pics of four-packs here. I'm in MI and I was able to pick up two single bottles today. Guess I screwed up my hunt.

Here's the thing, though. I'll be visiting Madison next weekend (12th-14th) and I'd entertain some trades if anyone wants to offer up a spare bottle or two of KBS. I have three bottles of Hopslam and up to six bottles of Black Note I'd be willing to bring with me. PM me if you have any interest.

 

Since it looks like everyone did pretty well, if anyone has an abundance and would like to unload it to someone who spent the day at work for some other beers IP in Madison let me know and we can work something out.

I made this comment in the other thread, but I'll say it again- makes me glad I live in Madison right now. The possibility of moving to Chicago after I'm done here next year is a bit less attractive now that I see what goes on there. ($9.99 for a bottle of KBS??) Even if it is swimming in BCBS by that time thanks to AB InBev. But oh what the heck, who lets beer availability guide their life choices anyways?

 

So what does everyone think of this beer anyway? I just drank the first of the 2013 vintage and its just as good as the 2012 vintage was (though I didn't have it fresh). Maybe could use a month or two since the bourbon barrel kicks you in the face at the beginning. Thicker, creamier and richer flavours compared to Peruvian Morning- yet I can see why some people think Peruvian Morning is more worthwhile than chasing KBS when you take the price point into consideration.
