lol. just got my notice of black note allocations. whoever started the no black note in nc rumor should be banned from BA. if you dont know what you're talking about, don't speculate.

Tryon has opened an aging warehouse to help store the limited releases at an optimal 80 degrees for months/years. Hoping to get some of that aged Hopslam again in the fall (which always pops up somewhere in town). Ummmm...old hops.

    Don't play with my emotions!

Everyone at Tryon must not be in the know. I asked about it again yesterday and was told don't expect any in NC. I'd rather fish with your bait so I'll throw it out there and see what bites!! Did you hear any dates?

At least he was correct on the KBS timing.

How does Tryon keep botching these and no one does anything about it? The year I moved here we saw Backwoods before FBS showed up. Every other market sees it, yet Tryon drops the ball again. Were a week late on everything. Hopslam, late. KBS, late. FBS, late. Enjoy By, late.

The people at Tryon are very aware of the urgency of these releases. The primary reason that they would not ship allocated beers on the "day" would be that they had not received their full allocation. They allocate to retailers by the numbers. If they shipped to retailers, as they had done years ago, and then get shorted on the next brewery delivery, they would wind up in the position of shorting some customers. They have chosen to wait until the full order is received to be fair to their customers. As a customer I support this and consider Tryon the best statewide craft beer distributor in NC and i think anyone in the biz would agree.

Yes Michael, you are on the money. No single distributor that I know of anywhere holds a candle to the foresight from years ago and to the fair practices of today. Brad and his team are a credit to the industry. It is comical to listen to some impatient folks wax on about what they know nothing of. Thanks for your experienced and level-headed defense of a fine distributor.

Not questioning their practices as a distributor, but why are they constantly getting some of thier shipments late/weeks apart? It's not like Founders are making a seperate batch to release a week later. Do they not book big enough trucks? Poor logistic planning? I would have a hard time believing Founders denying them on time pickup/shipment especially since they make a big deal out of their release date. Of course no at Tryon is going to throw anyone internally or externally under the bus so we will really never really know.

With such an item as KBS, Hopslam, etc. a good distributor wants to have his goods ready as promised, on his warehouse floor. The products do come in waves of delivery, so sometimes pieces of a total allocation arrive at different times. Having everything ready to go at the same time ensures as much fairness as possible, regardless of the impatience of some in the beer "community". Managing these types of releases is a thankless job, with someone always being unhappy somewhere. Truth is, the readily available product from Founders is what I care most about.

And that is purely a consumer sentiment.

So this is the week KBS hits NC, right? Anyone know of rules or release dates and times around CLT?

From what I've gathered from this thread as well as speaking with people at a few bottle shops in Raleigh and Durham, yes it's suppose to release this week. I was under the impression that shops would be selling it today, but I just spoke on the phone with someone from Sam's Quik shop in Durham and they haven't gotten any yet. Can't speak for CLT, but that's the story on the Triangle.

most everyone should see their pop around the state, tomorrow, it really just depends on what day they get deliveries from Tryon, and I'll echo the sentiments that making sure that all allocations are in before shipping to retailers is THE BEST way to go. It prevents a lot of heart ache through shorting. A lot of these releases have enough package and kegs that it takes a couple of shipments to receive all of them as they usually do not fit on one or even two trucks. Excuse me....I have to answer another KBS phone call:wink:!
