That's fine with me. I feel the quicker the beers sell the quicker the craft beer movement grows and honestly i hate it when people play favorites with beer.

Doesn't Hunterdon post the retailers they delivered the beer to on the same internet?

Yes they do post that....and telling everyone that only adds to the problem of people trying to get one darn bottle of beer. By the time you get there.....they are out.

The craft beer movement is growing for sure.....you do realize that telling people where and when you got KBS will ensure that next year you get none. These people are nuts and bring ten of their friends to the store and buy it all. Last year there were cars following Hunterdon trucks as they delivered beer!

Seems like a bro move to share info...in cases of extreme rarity such as KBS it's prob irrelevant since most allotments disappear so quickly, but it seems quite douchey to willfully withhold where one purchased a "darn bottle of beer" when asked directly

If you maintain a good relationship with your beer guy at your local quality craft beer liquor store you should have no problem acquiring at least one bottle of kbs. And why not keep up relations with more than one? Is talking about beer really that hard? That's all you need to do.

Which is an inevitable part of any scene. You are always going to have some form of hierarchy or favoritism in any group, that is clear. I'm not saying its good or bad, and like you say, just sparking conversation can lead to your go-to-guy or girl knowing you and your needs and can help you out to get that beer or whatever.

I feel that spreading information freely doesn't make me feel like im in the "drinking good beer club" and i feel we need more of that in everything, not just the beer world.

1 bottle limit and it sold out in about 2 hours.

Well, unless "you" are one of the 24* people who bought a bottle.

Look, as long as these breweries ship tiny quantities of beer to a state that does not come close to the demand from retailers or buyers, some people chasing the beer are going to walk away empty-handed. Drink what's available (it's an INCREDIBLE selection compared to what it was 1/2/3 decades ago), don't get caught up playing the "rare" game and you'll ultimately enjoy beer more.

    *(or whatever the quantity/limit totals)

I heard that the added production capacity at Founders should kick in for next years KBS..something like 3x the amount of this year...has anyone that, or was I dreaming?

Yes I remember reading this some time ago that the 2013 release Founders will have doubled or tripled the amount of KBS production. I'm not sure where the exact article/thread is but I did read something like this so your dreams are coming true.

I don't know how long ago they first announced it, but Mike Stevens and Dave Engbers reiterated that projection in their response to the KBS brewery release: http://www.foundersbrewing.com/blog/beer-releases/kbs-release-party-update-looking-ahead

Joe - Ironically enough, similar to its relationship with lightning, your thunder is delayed. Must've been on the wavelength as my message went up 11 minutes before yours.

All jokes aside, well done. I'm one for enjoying irony.

How did everyone who wasn't on a waitlist fare yesterday? Talking to my friends who work at stores, they said their phones were ringing nonstop with both knowledgeable fans and also people asking for the "bourbon stout from Kentucky."

I did not have a problem getting plenty of KBS from various locations this year. I also don't have a problem helping others finding some that are actively looking. I ended up calling about 9 places before I was able to secure the amount I wanted this year. You can rest assured that next year I will do the same and have simliar results regardless of the fact that I posted the names of 2 places here. Where there's a will there's a way. Cheers.

One last thought. Being somewhat new to the scene perhaps I am being a bit naive. With that said I still wouldn't change anything about what I said above. If it turns out that next year I am not able to have similar luck so be it. At the end of the day there are plenty of great beers around.
