Soooo anyone know when we can expect to see KBS arrive to stores in the Philadelphia market? Stores I have talked too are either being hush hush about it or they really don't know any info. Plus some bottle shops won't be posting its arrival on Facebook they said which I guess is fair but it makes it harder for me to know unless I call them every single day or walk into the stores every single day both of which are not feasible options.

I've been on the "hunt". Here's what I know....Tuesday is your best day to call ahead for actual information. My sources tell me it's going to be "one or two bottles per person". Most likely they don't know much as opposed to "hush, hush, hush". If you purchase from a place regularly you're more likely to score anything. I've had a bottle of this year's version when I was in MI last week and it's just as good as always! Is it worth the nutty hunt that's going down? THAT I'm not so sure about...

4/1 is the street date from what I've been told. That's not to say bottle shops won't put it out early, or that everyone will get their deliveries at the same time, but I would start calling around on Monday. As said above, most places will be 1 or 2 bottles per person.

I'm on the lookout for this as well. I've heard it's a lot of hype compared to others in its style but I just have to seefor myself. We all kknow the bottle shops will jack the price up on these. Last year did wegmans or whole foods get these? I really am not trying to pay $10 a bottle.

I heard hitting most philly area accounts on Wednesday, not sure how reliable the source is though. Called Devon Whole Foods yesterday and the guy told me he "didn't know when they expected it in, but *hopefully* soon", although the guys at WF tend to keep limited release stuff on the DL.

Had it twice on draft, once from a '13 bottle, underwhelmed me each time. Keep an eye on PhillyTapFinder for draft. If you're after bottles to age, then chase, but if you're after it to drink, it's a lot easier to get pours than Pliny the Younger. Admittedly, some of these BA stouts are better from bottles.

You're right. I have pretty much stopped the chase after this one in bottle. If I so happen to run across it in my normal browse of a bottle shop great. My bets are now hoping someone gets it on tap or philly beer week.

Last year a ton of places had it on during pbw and nobody cares since such other amazing stuff is pouring. Great time to get KBS on draft.

Yep. I've stopped chasing it, and drink my fill during PBW. It's much less stressful.

This may be news to everyone, but most stores typically have their KBS before 4/1, the release date. I know the Local 44 bottle shop had theirs, as I asked for and got a bottle yesterday. Ask at your shops, and pray they aren't out if you really want to get this. If your store is giving you the runaround on the phone, go in person and grab some other stuff. Then ask. You're more likely to get the truth.

Beer Heaven on Columbus has it now. They're asking you to buy a bottle or two of some 12oz Christmas beer.

Is it a 1 bottle/person limit at Beer Heaven?

Still maintain that KBS tastes far superior with about 9 months aging. If you can, try this!

Absolutely untrue. Stores received them yesterday or today from distributor. BTW: Stockertown is the distributor for Founders and they are the ones screwing everyone with their "selective" distribution...BOOO!

I had it for the first time at Churchville Inn at their First Anniversary event. The second time it was at Kraftwork for Founders Tap Takeover. KBS would've been just about 9 months at Kraftwork. The '13 bottle I had about 2 months ago. I haven't had 1 fresh so I'm looking forward to one this year year. Keep in mind also that I have had a lot of awesome BA stouts to compare the KBS to, so I my expectation may be different.

This and the old beer are 2 reasons I will not shop at Beer Heaven.

No. Founders typically distributes their special releases prior to the release date, so that the beer goes on sale on the same date across their distro footprint. Not all outlets get it prior to 4/1, but the bottle shops in Philly typically do. This was also the case at stores in NoVA when I lived down there. I don't know who you talked to, but every store owner I've asked has told me that both KBS and Backwoods Bastard come in ahead of the on sale date. There may be a distributor here or there that gums up the works, but Founders likes their special releases to go on sale everywhere at the same time.
