I wish, but I saw someone pick up a 4-pack the a day ago that had been held.

I've heard 4 cases, less than half of what they got last year. Unconfirmed second hand rumors though.

So much for 3x as much KBS and easier to get this year :grinning:

Yeah, from what I am hearing we are only getting two cases in all of Roanoke this year. Which means I will be lucky to get a single bottle. Was really hoping to get at least a four-pack this year. Time to trade I guess...

Down in Wilmington it was one bottle per person as well. I managed to pick up a 4-pack in Myrtle Beach.

Plain and simple, Founders has over-expanded. I enjoy all of their beers, but KBS is that special treat that I really love. It pisses me off that Founders has stretched themselves so thin that getting than more than one bottle of KBS is an accomplishment.

I'm pretty close to just not buying Founders anymore. In the last 3 years, I've been able to buy 3 total bottles of KBS. And yet they keep expanding. Before that, I was able to buy as many 4-packs as I wanted -- it sat around for weeks.

I can understand this statement, and I have even thought the same at times about other breweries. In this case, if you want to make that argument then they never should have been in NC or GA in the first place. I am pretty sure they could sell all the beer they make, even after the expansion, in the Midwest region. The possibility of getting KBS locally on occasion is better than never having the opportunity to buy any, IMO.

The demand has increased heavily! BUT when you keep expanding your markets before calculating how much more beer you're going to need to produce to supply your markets as good or better than last time, then you will piss a lot of people off because you will not have enough. You can't expect a company to expand as rapidly as Founders and be able to supply their entire markets. When they said they were making more KBS this year, they weren't saying they were doing it so we could buy more, they were saying it because they had to produce more to be able to supply all their new territory.

Remember that just because they've expanded to a region, it doesn't mean that each of those regions got KBS.
I know that locally for certain beer releases I have seen an exponential increase in the number of people around. I feel like it is more of an explosion in demand in specific reasons that is the bigger impact. Same thing with Hopslam this year.

If anyone in the Winston-salem area missed out; First Street Draught House is selling their bottles today starting at 5pm. Not sure how much, but last year they were $10 a bottle.

Good luck with that, guys have two fists wrapped around those bottles. You'll have to over pay to pry some loose I believe. I tried with offers of LP and EH, and the LP is always an easy trader, got some BCBS and a BCS instead for my trouble, but KBS is going to be a pretty hard get just based on incredibly short deliveries.

Would you sit and sip on one for $10? I did last year, hard to get too excited about spending 10 when I spent almost 7 with tax at TW. For an extra 2.50, no sweat. I've seen gouging stories 2 1/2 x that amount which is just wrong.

$10 in a bar for a bottle that retails for $5-7 is pretty reasonable I think. A bar or restaurant always has a higher price on alcohol than a shop. $10 is only 40-50% over retail, 100-200% isn't uncommon.

Agreed. On first read, I thought that was $10 at a bottle shop, which is nutty. I've grown to expect 75-100% markup on bottles in a bar/restaurant, though, so $10 is reasonable. I wouldn't pay it, but it isn't out of line with normal bottle markups.

There's a reason I only EVER drink draft when I go out, usually stuff I can't easily find in bottles/cans.

.I was under the impression that this restaurant was selling the bottles for carry-out. Thats why i consider this a gouge. But I see your point in stating if you purchase the brew for sipping there at 1st street.

They all so let you take bottles home, so your right in that regard. I bet they aren't 10 bucks this year either, I wouldn't be shocked if they were charging 12.

my buddy and i each got a bottle from first street last year and were literally one of four people there at 5pm at the start of the release. he went there friday to get a bottle and it was gone as soon as they could pass them out at 5. so I'd say the demand is much higher this year. he got one bottle and had a dirty bastard to drink while he waited for 5, his total was $14. so i think they were charging around $10 a bottle.

I had both a BCBS and a KBS lat night, and I have to say I really prefer the BCBS. Both are great Stouts but I like the Bourbon full on approach, I would love to get more KBS, but if I'm trading BCBS is just an easier get. And I over slept by an hour and still a little foggy..
