I know you said before you don't bother with this store but Keyfood on Queens Blvd had some a couple of days ago for $8.99 @ 2 btls per person (you have to ask though).

What do you consider gouging? Bottle cost for me was 4.16, we normally run a 30 percent markup which is 5.99. Im a smaller store, Its priced in my computer (which is centrally priced for my local chain) at 9.99. So I charge 9.99 if I haven't seen you before. But if you shop in my store, ill give it to you for 5.99. I too think anything higher than 9.99 or so is ridiculous, but my strategy is to look out for the customer who shops here regularly. I don't advertise I got it, in any way, only way to get it in my store is face to face. I only get 24 bottles, and this is the first year at my current store I was allocated any.

gotcha. Ive had the argument with others in my chain who feel that if they can get say 1499 why not charge it, same discussion comes up with pappy van winkle whiskeys. I contend that the customer who is looking for these items is someone I want shopping in my store year round so why try to get a few extra bucks now, kinda what you were saying. But there definitely are some who see it differently. I prefer to use these limited items as rewards to good customers.

Whacky story and long but I thought I'd share for shits 'n giggles. I go into a local liquor store this morning. The delivery guy is unloading beer and I spy a case of KBS. Ask the guy at the register when he'll be able to sell the KBS because he moved it to the back. He tells me later today so I said OK, I'll be back but could you save me a bottle. I never ask this but he just nodded his head (I'm in there a lot).

I go back to the store a little while ago and there is a younger kid at the register. Explained circumstances and that I was there earlier, etc. It's going right over the guy's head but he looks in the back and brings out regular Breakfast Stout twice. He looks around in the back a third time and comes out with a 4 pack with 3 bottles of KBS in it.

He was ready to sell me all three for 7.99. I politely told him that there is always a 1 bottle limit and that's not the right price. He prepares to say OK, 1 bottle will be 2 bucks. What? I politely tell him that it's wrong and I don't want to be dishonest. I tell him the usual price at the store (which is higher than most but not 19.99 high) and he rings me up. I'm happy with my bottle and I head to the next destination.

I get home and share my story with the wife that I scored a bottle from this place and another place along with some other stuff. She proceeds to look everything over and tells me that 1 of the bottles is 2015 KBS. Haha. This store must have had this on the shelves in the back and the kid never looked at the new box that is still probably sitting in the back room.

I would love to raid this store's inventory in the back and see what the hell they have back there. I remember another time where they were holding Backwoods Bastard for someone in the back room and they ended up putting it on the shelves after a month and I scooped it up.

So many things wrong with this situation but I wanted to be honest and not be greedy. I could have walked out with 3 bottles for 7.99 but that would have been shitty. I don't mind getting another 2015 either to add to my shelves. This place really needs a beer guy to straighten them out. They don't have an amazing selection but they get some decent stuff in from time to time and they have a bunch of potential. Have to wonder how many places really need a seasoned beer guy to get their shit together.

Similar story to above. Went with a friend to a beer bar mid-March for some barrel aged beers they had specially on tap. A set of 3 five ounce pours was $16 bucks. This was actually cheaper than if one were to buy each pour separately. One of the beers was KBS. Knowing the answer already, I asked the barkeep "Is this the 2016 version?". She assured me that "it is, it just came in this week." I texted the Founders beer rep I know who called bullshit on this. Also, pretty sure the 11.8% BA Anderson Valley that was listed was actually the 6+% version I've had before. Where's Ralph Nader when you really need him?

Spirit Unlimited in Manahawkin, NJ has some. The guy working there said 2 cases left so i asked at the counter. I could only get a single bottle (im assuming one bottle limit, when i asked she said thats it, pointing to the bottle behind some stuff on the counter)

    I got it for $7.99.

One store I called in Madison, NJ required that you buy another Founders product to get a single bottle. I was able to get two bottles by getting a 15 pack of All Day IPA :astonished: .

KBS is still popping up in grocery stores around here. I saw 4 or 5 4-packs on the shelf today, and 6 or so yesterday. I guess the benefit to being in Erie often is that it's easy as hell to get this stuff.

I got one at North Plainfield Buy Rite today when I picked up a six pack of Pocket Trick. They said it's the last one but you know how that goes.
