It would be interesting to know how much of each BA beer is distributed each year and how (tap vs bottled/canned). Of course this is competitive/privileged information they would likely never reveal. I read a good article on what limits the amount of BA beer produced, but mostly comes down to barrel availability, staff costs, and space.

Found some in CT, went to a small liquor store on the MA/CT border and there were a few 4 packs sitting in the cooler. SCORE!

I live on the California Central Coast and a local grocery store has had at least ten cases sitting out on the floor with no limits for about two weeks at 22.99/4. I have bought a case at this point (I keep buying one whenever I stop in) and doubt they will sell out at this rate for a couple of months.

According to the Michigan Liquor Control Commission the prohibition of tied in sales only apply to on-premise licensees, not off-premise licensees. Off-premise meaning retail establishments.

Use your word lookup if you want to skim through the whole thing. I don't want to have to start quoting definitions by law.

Your half-right though, Founders couldn't themselves make a tied-in sale at the taproom, or any bar, brewery, pub, etc., but retailers with off-premise liquor/beer/wine licensing can do it. So any grocery store, gas station, bottle shop, etc. It's not illegal, its just a dick move.

This was my first year getting any KBS - had the chance to pick up 2-four packs, I got them both and was not disappointed. Even if for some reason you hated it, I'm sure you could trade it.

I bought two 4-packs of FBS at $2 off the usual price each, in order to buy one 4-pack of KBS at $20. If the required beer had been full price or had been something I didn't like, then I would have passed and grumbled about it. But - I love and drink FBS so am I OK with getting $2 off on two 4-packs of it to get access to KBS at an OK price? Hell yes!

Exactly. This is a beer where I try to get all I possibly can (without going to extremes like muling or being a &$*% and trying to exceed bottle limits or anything). It will not go to waste. I love it. My wife loves it. I have friends that love it. I have friends that haven't had it and will love it when they get to try it. And if none of that were true, it could be traded.

I can't believe the difference in VA this year. One place that got 2 cases last year had 12 showing (as many employees noted "that we know of"). G&G still managed to sell theirs out in 4 minutes though - some things don't change.

I made the cutoff at my beer shop. They were selling it by-the-bottle I was able to buy two for about $6 a piece. If I didn't make the cutoff I would have only been allowed 1 bottle. I'm excited to try it for the first time. I'm approaching 500 unique beers on Untapped. I think KBS would be a worthy 500th beer.

Thanks for the info. live in NY and know that rack in my local Hannaford so I check it on Sunday and scored a couple 4 packs for 22.99 (and no I did not buy them all even though there was no limit)

The place also has 2 years worth of Founders Harvest Ale. Usually a $5 mark up on back stage releases too. I have a feeling they are not getting KBS next year, however.

Ya, I picked up some. Was able to pick up 3 4packs. Might go back and get more since the store has a bunch left. This was my first time trying it. Wouldn't say I am disappointed, because it is still a very good beer. But, was expecting more from the hype. To me, it was like a softer/water downed Parabajava. You definitely get the big coffee flavor which is nice. But you don't get much of the boozy barrel age. Still a very quality beer and worth the purchase though. It is just when you hold it up to the standards of Parabola, Parabajava and even Bourbon County Stout, it falls short, and is not in their class. Maybe the next bottle I pop open will grow on me. But, again, don't get me wrong, KBS is still a very good beer.

In a show of friendship and solidarity, it would be great if the BA community came together and sent a case of this over to your closest allies here in the UK. I'd be happy to step up and redistribute to local BAs from here.

Where is your local store? Must not be the Nashville area.

I haven't had the FW ones you mention, however I agree - I thought it was a step below BCBS (but not by much).

I can see the argument of KBS being better than BCBS, especially 2015 BCBS. 2014 BCBS was incredible. Had it on tap and in the bottle, and it was incredible. Far superior in tap. And 2015 BCBS, although very good, was a step down from the 2014.

The kegs are just starting to be tapped at a few places here in Cleveland. Don't think the bottles have hit this area yet. If anyone knows differently please let me know ASAP!
