This year's KBS has a noticeably less bourbon taste than in the past, IMO. Dark chocolate is the dominant flavor in the 2016 version. That said, it is still delicious and one I will continue to seek every year.

I'm planning on doing a comparison next weekend (with friends, I do not wish to die), and am thinking of side-by-side:

    - 2016 Sunday Morning Stout
    - 2016 KBS
    - 2016 Tweak
    - 2016 BA Bomb!
    - Breakfast Exorcism

If my BCBCS weren't nasty, I'd have added one of those to the lineup, but they merited a drain-pour and a refund. I may grab a Big Bad Baptist to add to it. Anything you'd recommend trying to get to add to the party?

I was able to get two bottles this year, so I'm thinking I will drink one soon, and one next year.

I got two bottles...last year. I still have one in my fridge. It's been in there the entire time. Does anyone know if it still tastes as good? I had one right away last year and wasn't blown away by it. For some reason I just haven't gotten around to having the other one.

Decent availability in South Dakota. Got some for 20.99 for four at my local. I hear a few kegs will be around as well.

Wait - if Founder's doesn't distribute to WA, why would you expect to see it? Is it common for out of market beers to appear in decent quantities up there?

2016 KBS was, to me, no good. All coffee. No bourbon, no chocolate. Basically a less tasty SMS. Not a fan. I gave away the rest of my allocation after having one today.

2016 kbs is awesome! Lots of chocolate up front. I don't get too much bourbon flavor but just enough to make it boozy. What a great fucking beer by a great brewery.

Scored a 4-pack for $23.99 in the Bay Area. Kind of expensive if you ask me, but I was happy to pick it up. (FIS is $12 for a 4 pack, so double the price for some adjuncts and a barrel treatment seem extreme to me).

I'm sure my perspective will be a lot different now that I've tried lots of BA stouts....I remember first having this a few years ago and it was terrific.

Lol yea, I paid $21.99, and I think it's the most expensive beer I have ever bought. Like you said, though, I was happy to buy it. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint!

Kept missing it all over San Diego, but finally scored a couple bottles today at an awesome little bottle shop in Poway.

^This is still relatively cheap compared to very pedestrian local BBA offerings at $18-$20/bomber. Then there are 7% IPAs that people happily pay $10/bomber for

Too many people are caught on OVERALL cost. But forget the quantity that is provided. I can see why so many breweries are switching to bombers. Consumers are consumers.

A 7% ipa @$10/bomber is almost double the value of what a KBS four pack is sold for. But hey, you're paying $12 less. So I guess its a deal?

And then we're surprised when companies make moves like GI did with their BCBS lineup.

Reminds me of when I met a guy who saw a 4 pack of 16 oz 7.2% ipa cans, where he said he loved the beer at a restaurant the night before. But that 4 pack at $9 was something he was not comfortable with. In his mind, a dollar a beer was his leveling point. ABV/price/oz, it's nearly cheaper than your standard bud light crap for that local IPA. Been saying it for years, consumers can be stupid, or illogical.

When it comes to the quantity of the beer, the most expensive would have to be 'Abyss' for $18, but when buying one pack of one beer it's this one.

@Thecalmdrinker That's on my top 5 highest priced beers list. I've seen Southern Charred @ $26/bomber too, and given its abv, that has marked an all time high on my beer cost abv spread sheet. Avery's Uncle Jacobs Stout is close. But that's near the Bud Light Ripoff Draft cost. So pretty much everything else is considered a value. Beer prices are a lot lower than they could be IMHO. To be bair, two local ipa bomber prices are also in the top 10.

But it does bring up a good point. Most people don't seem to be value orientated in the realm of massive choices and "ticks" or check ins. The prospect of a 50% off world class FBS does not thrill most people. So in some sense, for KBS, most people want one try, but don't like getting 4 total bottles (even if its a value). Seems like that 500ml format is the future. Thanks guys.

For me, I'm being priced out of great beers. A 4 pack of Ten Fidy is considered too expensive, but bombers of regular brown ales and coffee ales get sold like nothing? I love that 48 oz. format. $15-$16. And to compare, a BBA KBS, at 1.7% more abv, is it not worth $5 more? I think it is. But I guess we'll let consumers decide.

fyi, KBS would have to reach north of $25/four pack to reach what GI BCBS reached in their new 16.9 oz. (for my area) format on a price front. A $4 savings is still savings. Given the quantity people get, I guess people see little value in that?

It's frustrating. People don't know a deal until it's complained about and GONE

That's where I got it today. The price drop was a nice surprise.
