FBS is a little boring aged in my opinion, coffee fades and it ends up just blah

KBS-I have recently had both a 2011 & 2012 and both were amazing. I am sure it depends on cellaring conditions and vintage but I've found even when KBS was a little rough fresh out of the bottle (2014) age fixes it. Few weeks ago I had a 2015 and I thought it was even better than fresh but I know where it sat the last year

My parents just brought me some KBS from CA (I couldn't find any here) and I can finally appreciate the hype. KBS is so much smoother and better balanced than SMS, yet notably thinner and with only a faint bourbon smell. I agree that SMS is a bit harsh now so I can see why folks say that may improve with age, but fresh KBS is a chocolately dream.

That being said, my favorite is still BCBS - it has the most amazingly thick, luxurious feel and the bourbon is so well integrated.

Sigh, I just ran across another case of this at Wegmans for $19.99/4-pack after tax. I already have quite a few from the past few years, but I couldn't say no to the price, and the absolute game of chance that I'd stumble upon it.

(I only bought 1 4 pack. I want to spread some surprise, because I hope whoever stumbles upon it will be happy).

Yet more sighted - Elk Grove BevMo is selling it by the 4-pack for $25. You have to ask for it.

I thought the same thing. The guy at the store checked and said it was correct. So i stocked up. It was at a Mariano's grocery store.

In Aurora, on Eloa and New York street. I was paying for my few $6.99 a bottle. The price ranges are insane.

Interesting point on Mariano's - when I had called prior to release, one of the beer managers I've talked to said that he heard no Mariano's might end up getting any. It seems like a 2nd wave came through, and it seems like there is a lot more KBS to go around this year. Glad to hear you were able to get some there, and even better about the price!

Thanks! Yea, I never bothered to ask them just assuming they wouldn't get any. I always walk by though when I'm in there just to see if they get anything on the off chance and there it was. I have to agree, I was extremely shocked about the price. It's been about 2 weeks since I first got a few bottles so it was surprising for sure.

Anyone aware of a "last place you'd look" type of place near Waukesha/Milwaukee, WI that may still have some KBS laying around? I know im super late but I totally dropped the ball on this one.

Yeah, you suck. It's double that pretty much anywhere else in normal America. Seriously? Great job!
