KBS sightings around Pittsburgh 2014

Whole Foods in Wexford has had a list going for some time now. I called about a month ago asking about KBS. At that time, they already had a list going for 2 months.

If I'm able to get more than 4 bottles, I'll happily share the wealth. But at this point, I'll be happy grabbing a single bottle at retail.

 

GE shaler said 2 weeks today. Last week they said it would be this week. I don't think anyone truly knows.

 

I don't understand how Pittsburgh is so far behind every other city in the country it seems like, including Philly, when it comes to getting special release beers. I assumed KBS was going to be on shelves today, like it will be just about everywhere else. I mean geez, Penn State already has it.

 

For some reason the places/distributors feel the need to hold this stuff back intentionally. Maybe they feel it creates a higher demand? Sometimes its to their detriment. They used to hold stuff back like Hopslam and NN for months so when it did show up and everyone scrambled to get some it was not so fresh. but Im sure those in charge could care less. Ive also seen a few retailers do this as well, not specifically with IPA's, I suppose to draw business to their stores after the initally wave wears off.

 

I'm sure McStealy's will put it out mid summer for $15-20 a pop.

 

At Robinson?

Looking back at last year it seems KBS came out here starting exactly on the release date announced by Founders and hit most the places we are discussing during that first week. Does not appear to be the situation this year.

 

That's essentially what I got too. It was either Friday or "don't know." Stopping by four places today was essentially the extent of my effort on this. I've got a 34 hour weekend to work and no time nor inclination to go chasing some more.

 

what GE stores?

 

Checked shaler GE yesterday and no KBS. Someone on here said nothing at the Robinson GE. Don't know the third one

 

Ridiculous! Why? The demand isn't high enough already? Released around Columbus, Ohio at a few stores today. Hope it comes eventually!

 

I checked GE in Cranberry and Wexford and I stopped by the two distributors on 65 by me in Bellevue. Basically no one knew if they're get any or if they did when (GE Wexford guy said check back Friday which of course I can't because work).

 

99 Bottles said "Should be today, or in following weeks". Plus they charge $12.99 a bottle. Jags!

 

Confirming what seems like nothing until next week, this update from HO1KB:

"Because folks have been asking: Yes, we are getting KBS in next week sometime. Not sure which day exactly, nor how much bottles will be. Please do not call eighteen times a day asking if it's in yet, we will post when it drops. We are also tapping KBS, Sweet Repute, & Backwoods Bastard on 4/12."

 

How long are KBS and BB going to even last on tap?

 

I'll likely wait and go to this tapping at House i think. I'm certainly not going to sit around and nag every beer place to death via phone about it. If i find it, great, If not, whatever. Plenty of great beers to drink without going nuts over certain ones.
