Fine. Then I'll tell them I'm recording it. If they hang up it'll be a ringing indictment unto itself.

LMAO @ your diplomatic approach. I fucking love it. Gimme the number.

If the higher ups at Founders are anything like the bossmans at Surly, that won't happen. I don't blame them, to be honest... they can't control what the bottle shops do with their beer nor are they obligated to regulate that kind of thing. All they can do is offer an MSRP.

That said, I'd like to take this opportunity to offer yet another giant 'fuck you' to Jim Surdyk.

Some states allow recording and some don't. Sadly for our amusement, in Michigan you can receive up to two years of jail time and a maximum fine of $2,000 if convicted of illegally eavesdropping and recording a conversation prior to gaining the consent of all parties in a communication. Or at least that is what the internet says.

On the other hand, beer trading through the mail is illegal as well.

Heh, thanks for the support/words of wisdom, guys. There was always something just slightly off about the guy's personality that rubbed me the wrong way, just always wore this shit-eating grin. As soon as I heard him say "eBay", my sneaking suspicions about his character were confirmed. Now, I'm not 100% sure if this was store stock or his own personal stock that he was trying to sell, so I'm not sure I'd be completely justified in reporting his store. He made it sound like it was his own personal stock because I've seen/heard many customers asking about KBS and him saying they never got any.

If it is his personal stock it's his right to sell it for whatever he wants, just as it is your right to tell him he's crazy and not buy.

I would also give you two KBS for one BCBS. I would also be willing to throw in some nice extras for you.

I'm not sure it really matters if it was the store stock or his stock. (Or, realistically, where do you think he got "his" stock from?) Either way that's not somebody I would want to continue to do business with. He'll just keep doing it to you over and over and over again with future releases.

Store owner is very shady, but for BCBCS i would guess 3-4 bottles of KBS, I would ask 4

Oh, you must be one of "the same half-dozen guys, beer people that have nothing to do, apparently, but drive around looking for beer."

EDIT: the source of that quote is here: http://blogs.citypages.com/food/201...rms_over_price_gouging_for_surly_darkness.php

There's a small shop here (a certain fermented grape juice bar located in an underground cavern, opening up late afternoon every night) that currently has about 2 cases of 2012 KBS for $15 a bottle and 2011 KBS for $25 a bottle. Same shop also has Mamouche for $50, Blushing Monk for $35, and 2009 Noel de Calabaza for $40.

I went in to get some KBS last Friday and immediately walked out. They also charge $11 for a snifter of Alpha King.

Unfortunately, it'll fall on deaf ears. Surdyk already make it clear he doesn't give a shit that people don't like him charging twice the price for Darkness. Want to really send a message? Send that email every day. But then of course, you'd be fully embodying the stereotypical annoying, mouth-breathing, neckbeard-having beer geek.
