$50 for 09, 10, 11, and 12 vertical....then I find out only 4oz pours..... I believe I've just been hosed
Half bottles, six ounce pours for 12.50 each is pretty typical. Had Bourbon County Vanilla there @6oz for $12 a few weeks ago.
No kidding. I was thinking about going considering I'm two blocks away, but I can't possibly justify it.
i bet the beer is sold individually off tap at some point in the night. ill stop by to check some point that night.
Oh, bummer... the event is sold out. Though, consider last year's Dark Lord vs. Black Cat II at the Intelligentsia roasting plant (roastery?). Tickets were $100 and I don't think we got more than 4oz. each of the '07-'11 Dark Lords. Of course, there was the gift bag... and all the food and drinks we could enjoy... and the whole event was really laid back and fun... So never mind.
That... is a hell of a high price. The weird part is that it was actually way easier to get a hold of '09 KBS than it was the others because the chasing of these kinds of releases and the lists and all that crap hadn't really taken hold yet. I have '08 Kentucky Breakfast Stout and '09 KBS, but didn't get any '10 or '11 in bottles, I just made sure to go somewhere that got those on tap.
I think Mr. T has a good point. Save around $40 and get some on tap. We'll see a few tappings around town. Then you have to ask the question: Will KBS be as tasty when it's 3+ years old?
I'm sure this event is going to be really fun, I just hope there's a bit of swag to alleviate my buyers remorse. Also KBS is supposed to get better with age, I think that Founders used to recommend 2 years in the cellar for the flavors to completely open up.
I have an extra ticket (possibly two) for tomorrow's event if anyone is interested. It's for the 4-year vertical, which starts at 6pm. Just send me a pm.
Has KBS been spotted in the wild? Hop Leaf, Local Option, Bangers? Would like to taste, but dont know if a $50 vertical is needed off the bat.
KBS is supposed to be released at stores with an allocation in the Chicago area on Thursday (tomorrow). Most (if not all) stores received their allocation on Tuesday (yesterday).
